This is professional accounting work at the managerial level planning, coordinating and directing accounting programs. Work requires seasoned understanding and application of accounting and financial management theories, principles and practices which is gained through a combination of education, training and substantial on-the-job experience. Supervises subordinates by approving, assigning, monitoring, reviewing and evaluating their work. This position requires skills in understanding people, sensitivity to others points of view, persuasiveness and/or assertiveness are often required to influence behavior, change an opinion or turn a situation around. The work is governed by clearly defined policies and accounting principles and the employee is required to exercise judgement in determining how to accomplish program objectives. The work requires the use of judgement in searching for solutions or new applications within ones known experiences. Work is performed in an office environment. Operates a computer using word processing, spreadsheet, database and various accounting software. The work is performed under administrative direction where it is subject to operating plans, objectives, functional policies and precedents and the employee is given freedom to determine how and when results are achieved. The work is reviewed in terms of feasibility, compatibility with other work projects and effectiveness in meeting requirements or expected results.
