LJA Mission Statement:
The mission of Lake Junaluska is to be a place of Christian hospitality where lives are transformed through renewal of soul, mind and body.
Located in the Smoky Mountains of Western North Carolina, Lake Junaluska is a faith-based non profit ministry with historic connection to The United Methodist Church and plays a vital role by providing a location for training, gathering and personal renewal. Each year Lake Junaluska will host over 200,000 guests who are engaged in spiritual training, recreation or renewal events and activities. Our guests include religious, non-profit and secular groups. We are also a residential and vacation community.
Essential Functions

Must possess excellent hospitality skills and a strong desire to foster an attitude of Christian hospitality to “exceed guest expectations”.

Responsible for planning, promoting, and implementation of all programs sponsored by Lake Junaluska, including but not limited to; Youth Ministry events, Summer Worship Series, Summer Activities, Adult and Family Ministries and other Special Events.

Recruit new program partnerships for Lake Junaluska Conference Center.

Create new self-supporting ministry programs.

Network with current partner groups to increase participation in sponsored events.

Work with partner design teams, assisting with budget management, event planning, and marketing as needed.

Hiring and supervising the Assistant Director including quarterly performance reviews, discussing work schedule, and job responsibilities.

Collaborating with Assistant Director on specific projects and working towards common goals for the Program ministry.

Empowering and equipping the Assistant Director to lead the Youth Ministry and Family Ministry areas, including managing the department budgets, recruiting volunteers, hiring staff, and creating curriculum as needed.

Hiring and training summer employees for the Youth Ministry program and other program areas as needed.

Have comprehensive understanding of the Vision Document and serve as key leader for Aspirations related to the Program Ministry Area.

Work to implement the recommendations of the Art and Music Task Force to infuse Art and Music on all aspects of the program area.

Responsible for revenue generation and controlling expenses within the approved budgets.

Providing on-site leadership for youth events, summer worship, and other sponsored ministry programs.

Work with the Marketing Department to develop a 12 month calendar to publicize all events.

Attend events outside of Lake Junaluska as often as possible to publicize and network, these may include United Methodist as well as other strategic opportunities.

Comply with all safety policies, practices and procedures and report any unsafe activities or conditions immediately to the General Manager.

Perform other duties and responsibilities as assigned and required.
