Summary

SUMMARY: Provides for the safety and protection of guests, team members, and employees of the resort. Anticipates potential problems and seeks ways to prevent disruption, injuries, and prohibited conduct from occurring on resort premises. Respond to emergency situations as requested and takes appropriate steps to rectify problems and at the same time minimize hotel liability. All duties are to be performed in accordance with departmental and the resorts policies, practices, and procedures.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Executes emergency response and evacuation procedures as directed by the manager on duty.
  • Performs foot patrols, to include walking throughout the property and climbing stairs of the interior and perimeter of the hotel to visually and aurally observe and identify potential safety and security risks or undesirable conditions. Requires positive clear English verbal communication using two-way radio, telephone and/ or equipment assigned.
  • Monitors and assists in the enforcement of the hotel policies and procedures; federal, state, and local laws.
  • Patrols and/ or periodically inspects assigned areas constantly on the lookout for undesirable persons whose presence on property is not considered to be in the best interest of the resort or its guests.
  • Investigates all incidents, accidents, and/ or events to include: taking initial reports and conducting interviews with appropriate follow-up.
  • Maintains a visible and accessible profile among resort guests and team members to create a sense of security, to deter potential problems, and to answer questions.
  • Monitors suspicious persons in the resort, practically those attempting to enter an unauthorized area.
  • At the discretion on the shift manager, trespass undesirables and troublemakers.
  • Provide for safety and welfare of event guests, minimize the frequency and/ or severity of harmful incidents.
  • Communicate personal observations and/ or incidents that have a potential impact on the general well- being of guests and employees to appropriate event/ banquet staff.
  • Intervene in potential conflicts for the purpose of minimizing disruptions of event activities and/ or injury to involved parties.
  • Support safe work habits and contribute to a safe working environment at all times.
  • Follow directions, get along with co-workers and supervisors, treat co-workers, supervisors and guests with respect and courtesy, contributes to a positive and rewarding team environment and refrains from abusive, insubordinate and/or violent behavior.
  • Perform other related duties as requested by the supervisor.
Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS, SKILLS & ABILITIES:

  • Ability to actively attend to, convey, and understand the comments and questions of others.

EDUCATION AND/OR EXPERIENCE:

  • Two years related hotel/resort industry experience and/or training.
  • High school or GED graduate.
  • Catering, conference services experience a plus.
  • Highly preferred safety and security and/ or public relations experience
  • Guard card Certification

 

LANGUAGE SKILLS:

  • Ability to read, comprehend and provide instructions, both written and verbal.
  • Ability to effectively present information to individuals and all sizes of groups (i.e. clients, customers, guests, associates, managers etc.).

 

COMPUTER SKILLS (FOR ADMINISTRATION OR MANAGEMENT POSITIONS):

  • Must possess computer skills, including, but not limited to, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint and Delphi experience a plus.
  • Proficient in Outlook and Internet applications.

 

CERTIFICATES & LICENSES:

  • Must have valid Food Handler Certification.
  • RBS certification preferred.
  • Must provide valid document(s) to work in the US.
  • Valid California Driver License is required (for specific positions).

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT:
The work environment at Resort ranges from winter time lows of 30 degrees to summer time highs to 80+ degrees. While performing these duties the employee may be exposed to outdoor and inclement weather conditions.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee must be able to:

  • Use hands to finger, handle, or feel; and talk or hear.
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision.
  • Lift 25-50 lbs. (for specific positions)
  • Sit, stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Reasonable accommodations made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform the essential functions.

 

GROOMING & UNIFORM:

Some positions will be required to wear uniforms. Uniforms are the property of Resort. Uniforms that have been tampered or destroyed will be the responsibility of the employee and disciplinary action will apply.

  • Hair must be clean and kept at a reasonable length.
  • All Food Servers and Culinary personnel must wear their hair tied back.
  • No extreme dying or bleaching of hair is permitted.
  • Fingernails must be clean and well-trimmed at all times.
  • Antiperspirant or deodorant must be worn.
  • Cologne or perfume may be worn at a minimum.
  • Nametags must always be worn, unless your department has a specific policy to the contrary.
