As a Facilities Vehicle Technician you are  responsible for performing general maintenance and repairs. A majority of the responsibilities will include: carrying out maintenance and regular inspections of the fleet; making recommendations for repairs and follow through with vehicle requests to ensure the safety of all UGM vehicles. This position will also involve working with interns to assist with vehicle transportation and various duties. Good communication and interpersonal skills are required for internal customer service as well as working with outside vendors, donors and guests. You may also be asked to carry out some construction, remodeling, and renovation projects as assigned by manager.




  • Maintenance of fleet vehicles, inspect regularly for issues, as well as making recommendations for repairs and performing light maintenance.
  • Diagnose problems, replace or repair parts, test and make adjustments.
  • Be able to perform light vehicle maintenance such as: fluid level checks, tire rotations and pressure checks, changing motor and transmission oil. Be able to read and intemperate trouble codes and perform basic troubleshooting.
  • Maintain a clean and safe work area.
  • Read and interpret equipment manuals and work orders to perform required maintenance and service. Be able to prioritize multiple requests.
  • Conduct routine maintenance work aiming at vehicle functionality and longevity.
  • Work independently and as a Facilities team member completing assigned tasks in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Perform yearly procedures such as installing snow tires and recertifying fire extinguishers.
  • Be able to use Microsoft Word, Excel and web-based applications such as Max Panda (work order system) and Fleetmatics.
  • Process vehicle accident and incident reports. Assist with involved employees, insurance and People Team.  Follow up and expedite repairs.
  • Utilize online tracking software for various functions such as routine vehicle maintenance and providing detailed reports of tracking upon request.
  • Create work orders using Max Panda web-based software.
  • Attend and participate in all Mission meetings and training sessions, as required.
  • Carry out any other department duties as assigned by supervisor, such as janitorial, landscaping, and general repair and maintenance in the following areas: plumbing, electrical, carpentry, painting, sheetrock repair, and flooring.
  • Comply with safety regulations and maintain clean and orderly work areas.
  • Perform other duties as required.

  • High school diploma or equivalent required. 
  • Minimum three years of fleet vehicle repair and maintenance required
  • Facility and equipment maintenance/construction experience highly preferred.          


Work Environment


While performing the duties of this job, the employee is frequently required to stand or move around for long periods of time.  Regularly be required to lift, sit, balance, twist, stoop, kneel and reach with hands/arms.  Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds and walk, use stairways to climb to multiple floors within the company.  Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, distance vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
