Description

Lead SQL Server Architect

 

 

Purpose of the Position: Maintains total ownership and management over enterprise databases, as well as database team members. Responsible for leading the database team in successful implementations of a new database(s) or features as needed with minimal direction. Drives the review process, analysis, and implementation of additional third-party software solutions and database add-on solutions where needed.

 

Key Responsibilities:

    • Conducts ongoing assessments of existing databases and architecture
    • Leads and executes a complete redesign and rebuild of any databases or entire database infrastructure
    • Strong understanding of database design and query strategy for optimal performance
    • Quickly learns the new features of RDBMS and becomes proficient at implementing those options or features as they become available with minimal direction
    • Able to analyze the effect of making the application/server/database level configuration changes to the environment
    • Collaborate with the database team members and infrastructure teams to understand requirements and help design solutions
    • Quickly learn and understand needs that may be unique to the organization
    • Implement current database management standards and best practices
    • Foster collaboration and transparency with various internal teams and the Board of Directors
    • Manage database team personnel
    • Other tasks as assigned

 

Education:

  • Bachelors Degree or equivalent experience

 

 

 

 

 

Skills & Abilities:

 

  • 10 + years database administration with at least 5 years in a senior or lead DBA or architect role
  • 5+ years of Microsoft SQL Server (2012 and above), supporting enterprise SQL-based relational databases and data warehouses, managing database configurations, replication, migrations, backup, disaster recovery, OTP and running in the cloud
  • Strong SQL architecture skills
  • Strong database design
  • Strong knowledge of query language
  • Strong ability to work without supervision and to handle high levels of responsibility
  • Works collaboratively with different teams to understand requirements for database design solutions

 

Physical Requirements:

 

  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and working on a computer
  • Ability to lift 15 pounds at a time
  • Travel required as assigned
