Description

Position Overview

This is a Federal Work Study Program (FWSP) funded position which will assist staff or faculty in supporting the classrooms, labs, or departments.  Duties may include, opening, closing, and working the Innovation Studio Service Desk, answering patron correspondence, processing print request, setting up equipment for use, and assisting patrons on initial use of equipment.  

 

Hours per Week

  • 15 - 25 hrs/wk
  • Summer semester hours will be 15 a week and will increase to 20 hours in the Fall: Must be available minimum
  • One weekend day and one evening until 8 PM required

  • Chambers Library's Innovation Studio (IS) connects the Central community to emerging technologies. The IS department is dedicated to facilitating the library’s mission of empowering and supporting transformative learning.

 

Department Specific Job Functions

  • Keep the Studio neat, clean, organized, operational, and open according to schedule
  • Troubleshoot and document problems with Studio operations
  • Assist patron on basics of Studio equipment, hardware, and software including, but not limited to; Laser Cutter, VR systems, Cricut Machine, JVC 4K Camera, GoPro 360° Camera, and Podcast Equipment
  • Answer a variety of questions regarding Innovation Studio and Library services
  • Stay updated on Studio procedures, collect data, process emails, print, and appointments
  • Serve as Studio ambassador and assist visitors, cover supervision of Studio when Staff are away
  • Keep Studio supervisors informed and current about Studio occurrences

Qualifications

Enrollment Requirements

Fall/Spring Semesters: All student employees must be enrolled at least half time to be eligible to work any UCO student position. Half time enrollment for Fall/Spring is considered 5 hours for graduates and 6 hours for undergraduates.  International students shall be enrolled full time to be eligible to work as a student worker. Full time enrollment is 9 credit hours for graduates and 12 credit hours for undergraduates.

Summer Semester: Student employees working regular student positions must be enrolled in at least 3 credit hours to be eligible to work during the summer. Students not enrolled in summer classes must be enrolled in Fall classes in order to work on campus, but they (and the department) will be required to pay FICA taxes. Student employees working FWSP positions must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours (if undergraduate) or 5 credit hours (if graduate) in order to work during the summer in a Federal Work Study Program position. 

Enrollment Exception: If the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of hours needed to graduate and anticipated graduation date) and submit it to Human Resources. FWSP Requirements

In order to be considered for the Federal Work Study Program (FWSP), you must be approved for work study through the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships, and you must accept your FWSP award in UConnect. Contact the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships for assistance.

Please be aware, Summer FWSP is not included in the award for Fall/Spring FWSP. Summer FWSP is an individual application process.

Enrollment requirements for FWSP employment are the same each semester. Undergraduate FWSP students must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours, and Graduate FWSP students must be enrolled in a minimum of 5 credit hours.  If a student is enrolled in their final semester and the number of credit hours needed to graduate is less than the minimum number of hours required for student employment, the student must obtain a letter from their Academic Advisor (stating the number of remaining credit hours needed to graduate and the anticipated graduation date) and submit the letter to Human Resources. Qualifications/Experience Required

  • Student must be approved for Work Study through the Office of Financial Aid & Scholarships for the appropriate semester
  • Student must accept their Federal Work Study Program award offer in UConnect
  • Must be available minimum one weekend day and one Mon - Thurs evening.

 

Qualifications/Experience Preferred

  • Experience with 3D Design, Video editing or Podcast production preferred.
