The Aquatics Captain oversees, develops and trains lifeguards while ensuring a safe, smooth, and efficient operation of park attractions.



  • Ensure attraction staffing levels are met and all attraction pre-opening checks have been completed prior to opening each day.
  • Evaluates lifeguard skills in conjunction with Lead Lifeguards and Operations Management Staff.
  • Completes training certification for lifeguards on area attractions before the attendant/lifeguard takes position.
  • Responds to emergency situations at park attractions and completes follow up reports (i.e. witness, incident, and ride closure and/or rescue report forms).
  • Ensure guest relations problems are handled appropriately.
  • Facilitates communication between lifeguards and operations management staff in a timely manner.
  • Maintains cleanliness standards for park opening and closing in conjunctions with lead lifeguards.
  • Maintains all rescue equipment.
  • Correction and enforcing Ellis & Associates protocols (10/20 scanning, 5-minute strategy, etc.)
  • Must enforce and adhere to Wet’n’Wild Hawaii policies and procedures.
  • Instructing Lifeguard Classes 
  • Conduct Pre-Service Training daily
  • Other duties as assigned.

  • High School Diploma or GED required.
  • 3 months or 1000 hours of previous lifeguard experience is preferred.
  • Possess strong leadership skills.
  • Ability to work with a diversified work force.
  • Promote and safe and healthy working environment.
  • Ability to read and comprehend documents such as instructions, safety rules, and procedural manuals. 
  • Must have effective oral skills to communicate with customers and co-workers. 
  • Must be able to speak in a clear and understandable voice so that various types of communications may be conducted with people of various levels of education and capabilities. 
  • The employee must be able to interact and communicate with all types of individuals and deal with difficult people and situations. 
  • Must possess excellent interpersonal, customer service and teamwork skills, maintain positive working relationships, promotes a cooperative, courteous, friendly, accommodating and respectful attitude towards customers and co-workers.
  • Must be able to organize and multi-task.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form. 
  • Ability to deal with and solve problems.
  • Must be able to lift, pull and/or push up to 25 pounds at a time.
  • Must be able to stand and walk for long periods of time.
  • Routinely exposed to extreme hear and direct sunlight.
  • Available to work mornings, days, nights, weekends, and holidays to meet the business needs.
  • Must be able to work all shifts available.
  • Must be able to work in an outdoor environment in an all-weather inclement. 
  • Must be able to work without supervision.

  • Lifeguard Instructor Certification
  • Valid Lifeguard License
  • Ellis Special Facilities License.
