Shady Canyon Golf Club is one of the premier clubs in Southern California, located in Irvine.  Tom Fazio designed a challenging golf course laid out over 300 acres in a natural setting. The course was established in 2002, and shortly thereafter received Audubon certification.  Shady Canyon is a private club offering Golf and Social memberships.  Member dining is available six days a week. Members can choose to dine in the Mixed Grill, Men’s Grill or Ladies’ Grill. We also offer a Golf Snack Bar and a seasonal Pool Snack Bar.  Banquet rooms are available for private parties.  A Fitness Center with Pool and Spa facilities is open seven days a week.  Family activities and childrens’ programs are available year-round.

The Food and Beverage Manager will oversee the daily operation of the “Front of the House”.  The primary areas they will supervise are the Talon Room and Bar, Men’s Grill, Ladies’ Grill, Golf Snack Bar, seasonal Pool Snack Bar and private Banquet events. This person will also interview, hire and train staff; assist with scheduling, payroll and employee reviews. We are looking for a person that is outgoing, friendly and has good interaction with members/guests and employees. It is also important that they are computer literate, well organized and able to multi-task.  Food and Beverage supervisory experience required.

  • Assures that effective orientation and training is done for new staff.
  • Assists with ongoing training, supervising, and evaluating of Food & Beverage service staff.
  • Responsible for disciplinary and counseling duties, communicating with Human Resources regarding personnel actions, and application processes. Keep detailed records of employees’ performance.
  • Monitors and enforces employee dress codes according to policies and procedures.
  • Does payroll in a timely manner.
  • Assists with the schedule and follows established guidelines and standards.
  • Supports Food and Beverage Manager in all dining outlets.
  • Inspects to ensure that all safety, sanitation, energy management, preventive maintenance and other standards are consistently met.
  • Maintains appearance, upkeep and cleanliness of all food and beverage equipment.
  • Assures the neatness, cleanliness, set up and safety of all dining areas and facilities.
  • Reviews table diagrams, guest tables and other function room set-up needs for special functions.
  • Conducts daily line-up to ensure smooth, efficient service; assigns server stations and coordinates the timing of courses.
  • Ensures that an accurate reservation system is in place.
  • Greets host, guests and oversees actual service on a routine basis.
  • Enforces established club rules, regulations and policies.
  • Addresses member and guest complaints and advises the Clubhouse manager about appropriate corrective actions taken.
  • Coordinates food service between kitchen and Food & Beverage service staff.
  • Assures that all standard operating procedures for revenue and cost control are in place and consistently utilized.
  • Ensures that all appropriate charges are billed correctly to each event and forwarded to the catering department.
  • Develops interesting ways of promoting club functions.
  • Assists in planning and implementing procedures for special club events and banquet functions.
  • Ensures all details of Banquet Event Orders are being followed and communicated to staff.
  • Works closely with the Catering Department and communicates any concerns in a timely basis.
  • Researches new products and develops an analysis of the cost and profit benefits.
  • Develops and implements policies and procedures for food and beverage department to improve and enhance service, standards and overall operations.
  • Attends weekly Food & Beverage department meetings and other club meetings as needed.
  • Manages the inventory of banquet service ware.
  • Assures that state and local laws and the club’s policies and procedures for the service of alcoholic beverages are consistently followed.
  • Completes other appropriate assignments made by the Clubhouse Manager.
  • Employee may perform other related duties to meet the ongoing needs of the Club as requested by the supervisor.

  • Thorough knowledge of F&B operations including food, beverages, supervisory aspects, service techniques, and guest interaction.
  • Ability to communicate in English, both orally and in writing, with members and employees, some of whom will require high levels of patience, tact and diplomacy to defuse anger, collect accurate information and to resolve problems.
  • Managerial Skills.
  • Ability to follow oral and written directions.
  • Ability to perform multiple tasks and prioritize in an efficient manner while working under pressure and exercising patience.
  • Ability to exercise independent judgment.
  • A minimum of 2 years previous Food & Beverage, and supervisory experience at a fine dining establishment
