The Director, Information Technology Services is responsible for providing the leadership, planning and management for the development, acquisition, implementation and support of information technology services to further the Mission of Midwest Transplant Network (MTN).                                    


  1. In conjunction with the Senior Director, Information Technology Services, charged with driving growth and success as it relates to information technology, in coordination with the Strategic Plan.
  2. Participates in the development of MTN business strategy and execution as it pertains to information technology.
  3. Manages all telecommunications and data networks.
  4. Provides input to the Senior Director, Information Technology Services on technology related budgets including hardware, software, internal IT staff and contractors with a focus on selecting ‘best value’ technology to meet the business objectives.
  5. Manages all technical staff and contractors and develop/oversee all resource plans needed to meet technical needs of the organization.
  6. Establish and evaluate performance standards for information technology services and IT staff.
  7. Maintains a level of knowledge to offer appropriate technology solutions in the following areas:
    1. System implementation
    2. Programming
    3. Network operations
    4. Hardware
    5. Database administration
    6. Project Management
    7. Capacity planning
    8. Security
    9. Business Continuity & Disaster Recovery
  8. Monitors success of technology solutions and adjust technology plans and projects as needed.
  9. Maintains, audits and continuously improves security management for the organization’s computer systems and networks, including hardware and software.
  10. Ensures an inventory of technology resources is maintained and updated regularly to protect and effectively manage organizational information technology assets.
  11. Oversees the adoption and implementation of information technology necessary to improve MTN employee productivity through the use of technology.
  12. Collaborates with Information Security Specialist to develop and maintain high-level security and compliance initiatives throughout the organization
  13. Enables strategic use of enterprise-wide information for cross-functional organizations and teams.
  14. Fosters a customer support culture for all IT resources including implementing best practices.

  3. Demonstrates critical thinking in an effort to analyze data that monitors department trends and identify action items to improve performance.
  4. Attends and actively participates in departmental and organizational meetings.




  1. Undergraduate degree in information systems or business-related degree required, masters preferred.
  2. A minimum of ten years experience in the field of information technology.
  3. Information technology department managerial experience required in an organization of a minimum of 100+ FTEs and 24/7 operations.
  4. Detail oriented, organized, excellent tracking/reporting skills, effective written and verbal communication.
  5. Demonstrated understanding of business process analysis and how to use information technology to cost-effectively optimize business and clinical work processes.
  6. Must maintain a valid driver’s license in accordance with MTN motor vehicle policy.  Must have reliable personal automobile transportation to be used with company reimbursement using IRS guidelines.  Must be able to travel within the service area by ground or air.
  7. Ability to lift 50 pounds and transfer short distances.
  8. Possess ability to operate telephones, computers and office equipment.
  9. Ability to speak and communicate clearly in order to accurately convey information in person or by phone.
  10. OSHA Category III – No exposure to bloodborne pathogens while performing assigned job duties.
  11. Home internet and wireless phone access may be required.
