Position Summary

Plan, oversee, and execute development activities, in conjunction with the Executive Director, to secure and cultivate contributed support from new and continuing donors, including event planning, grant writing and research, donor acquisition, donor communication strategy and implementation, and donor database maintenance.  Preferred work location is the ACSI office in Colorado Springs.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities

  • Support the Executive Director in event planning for donor cultivation events, including vision trips, regional award ceremonies, or other donor gatherings, in the US and for global vision trips
  • Conduct formal and informal research to identify foundations or major donors who may be open to supporting ACSI global or ACSI research and thought leadership projects, and assist in preparing grant proposals for foundations or donors
  • Develop and manage an annual donor communication calendar
  • Create, develop, and write the global communication newsletter Ignite and coordinate production with the Communication team
  • Maintain the existing donor software and implement the transition to a new system in Protech
  • Develop, produce, and maintain donor communication tools, including newsletters, direct mail appeals, giving statements, and e-communications
  • Promote and facilitate recurring gifts through online giving
  • Use social networking channels to encourage donor feedback, networking, and engagement
  • All other duties as assigned

Preferred Experience and Education

  • Five or more years of successful development experience in areas of assigned responsibilities, including event planning
  • Bachelor’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Nonprofit Management, or a related field
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong and effective relationships
  • Proven ability to communicate effectively verbally and in writing
  • Donor database management experience in segmentation, strategy, reports, queries, report analysis
  • Ability to move multiple tasks forward concurrently toward multiple deadlines
  • Proficiency with digital media, social networking channels, email marketing, and online giving
  • Attention to detail and ability to maintain confidentiality
  • Ability to work autonomously to achieve department goals
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Power Point, Outlook)

 Physical Demands and Work Environment

  • Ability and willingness to travel up to 25% by plane or automobile
  • Driver’s License required to be kept current and in effect as a condition of employment
  • Employee is regularly required to walk, sit, use hands and fingers, talk and hear
  • Essential duties require the use of computers to process information
  • Specific vision abilities required by this job include the ability to read at close range and distinguish colors and contrasts
  • The noise level in the work environment is usually minimal
