Aprio is launching People Advisory Services and is looking for an experienced Payroll Associate to join our team. As part of our expert in-house People Advisory team, you will deliver superior client service and manage our client’s most trusted process- payroll compliance. Position Responsibilities:

  • Processes client payrolls (weekly, bi-weekly, semi-monthly, and monthly) in an accurate and timely fashion
  • Provide support related to payroll processing, payroll systems management, and state employer requirements
  • Provide consulting regarding payroll compliance for fringe & employer benefits, retirement, and PTO
  • Establish client work within internal project management tracking system and maintain accurate records of client data
  • Work with clients as needed to run special off-cycle payrolls
  • Coordinates with client on employee benefits including open enrollments, renewals, changes, and terminations for benefits programs including medical, life, dental, disability, and 401k that affect payroll processing
  • Prepares various payroll other ad-hoc reports as requested
  • Collaborate with others and contribute to great team member relationships
  • Have a continuous learning mindset on new aspects and areas of compliance in payroll, benefits, and human resources 
Qualifications and Perks


Qualifications Needed:

  • Bachelor's Degree preferred; 3 to 5 years experience working in a public accounting firm or payroll processing company a plus
  • Proven experience in payroll tax reporting and reconciliation
  • Knowledge of payroll regulations, methods, and procedures; apply labor laws, rules, and regulations pertaining to payroll and benefit administration
  • Understand proper taxation of employer-paid benefits and multi-state jurisdiction tax withholding.
  • Experience with new client implementations and preparing clients payroll from start to finish including the verification and payment of federal, state & local taxes.
  • Able to solve practical problems while dealing with a variety of variables in situations
  • Act as point of contact to address employees’ inquiries concerning payroll deductions and accruals, wage garnishments, preparation of manual checks, and employment verifications.
  • Working knowledge of  software applications such as Xero, QBO, Gusto, JustWorks
  • Microsoft Office knowledge and strong Excel skills a plus
  • Excellent communication skills and the ability to work (and thrive), in a remote team organization
  • Eager to learn in a fast-paced environment
