Description

To perform the day to day activities of the Laundry Department in accordance with current federal, state and local standards and as may be directed by the Director of Environmental Services and/or the Executive Director, to ensure that the center is environmentally safe, sanitary and clean. To ensure that an adequate supply of clean linen and clothing is on hand at all times to meet the needs of the residents.

Perform day to day laundry functions and specific tasks as assigned and in accordance with established laundry procedures, collect, sort , wash soiled linen and clothing, iron, fold, hang, stack and distribute clean linen to the clean linen area on each pavilion and distribute clean clothing to each individual resident daily. Clean and disinfect all area of the laundry room this includes, washers, dryers, walls, ceilings doors, tables, dirty linen carts, clean linen carts and floors to ensure that the laundry room is environmentally safe, clean and comfortable, clearly marked with caution or safety signs as required. Ensure that work areas are free of all hazardous objects and that all equipment and supplies are properly stored at all times. Ensure that established Universal Precautions and infection control, isolation, fire, safety and sanitation practices and procedures are maintained and followed when performing laundry duties. Promptly report all hazardous conditions and equipment to the Director of Environmental Services and/or the Executive Director.

Walking, reaching, bending, lifting, grasping, fine hand coordination, pushing and pulling, ability to distinguish smells and temperatures, ability to read and write in English, ability to communicate with residents and personnel and ability to remain calm under stress.

Maintain resident confidentiality, treat residents with kindness, dignity and respect, know and comply with Residents Rights.

Attend and paEnsure that equipment and linen carts are properly cleaned and stored. Ensure that an adequate level of laundry and linen supplies is maintained at all times and advise the Director of Environmental Services of supply needs. Ensure that all equipment is in proper working order at all times and promptly report any equipment malfunctions and breakdowns to the Director.rticipate in orientation, training, in service educational activities, staff meetings, participate and assist in departmental studies and projects as assigned.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 18 years of age.
  • Completion of elementary education or otherwise show the ability to read, write and follow oral and written directions.
  • Must speak and understand English.
  • Positive attitude toward the elderly.
