POSITION SUMMARY

The Recruiter/Training Licensing and Placement Specialist for Unaccompanied Minor Refugee Minor (URM) Program in the Virginia region is responsible for the assessment of prospective families for foster parent licensure and provide them with support throughout the licensure process, and provide support ongoing, thereafter.  In addition, the Recruiter/Training Licensing and Placement Specialist will manage the intake and placement assignments of foster children/youth. 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Complete SAFE (Structured Analysis Family Evaluation) home study assessments for prospective families.
  • Manage a home study caseload.
  • Provide support to assigned families throughout the licensing, adoption, guardianship and renewal process.
  • Conduct monthly and quarterly home visits.
  • Respond to requests regarding the status of families.
  • Complete and submit reports as required.
  • Attend staffing, hearing and other meetings to address approval barriers, denials and/or closures.
  • Complete renewal activities for all families assigned to case load.
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with clearances, training and licensing documents for all licensed families in the workers case load.
  • Maintain adequate tracking system.
  • Conduct regular community outreach to identify prospective foster parents.
  • Provide support to assigned families throughout the licensing, adoption, guardianship and renewal process
  • Complete and submit reports, as required
  • Attend staffing, hearing and other meetings to address approval barriers, denials and/or closures
  • Ensure ongoing compliance with clearances, training and licensing documents for all licensed families
  • Coordinate child placements received from contract provider, to include LIRS
  • Process all information through established professional internal and external channels of communications
  • Maintain statistics for each step from intake to licensure
  • Assist with the maintenance of case records in accordance with quality assurance standard
  • Maintain adequate tracking system
  • Perform other duties as assigned

 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Knowledge in Virginia foster care laws and processes
  • Knowledge or understanding of the U.S. Refugee Resettlement program
  • SAFE trained
  • Master’s degree (MSW) from an accredited college or university with licensure in Virginia LSW/LCSW. 
  • Culturally competent: experience with different cultures, religions, and nationalities.
  • Experience in writing cohesive and coherent court reports, treatment plans, contact notes, and monthly reports.
  • Knowledge of trauma based practices and working with youth
  • Experience in family therapy and/or trauma informed therapy.
  • Bilingual preferred
  • Will be required to pass background check in DC, Maryland, and Virginia.
  • Must have reliable and accessible transportation
  • Valid driver’s license and vehicle insurance

 

SKILLS

  • 2 plus years of experience in child welfare
  • 2 plus years of experience in SAFE home study assessment, preferably in Virginia
  • 2 plus years of experience in the foster care system - Virginia
  • Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel)
  • Experienced in data collection systems
  • Ability to manage time well.
  • Ability to work independently and in a group.
  • Spanish speaking a plus.
