Operate Computer Aided Design (CAD) and/or Solid Works computer software, designing park and playground equipment including creating, updating and modifying drawings for sales, engineering, factory production, and/or customer use. Work with other engineering personnel to develop drawings and site plans. Entry level position with on the job training available to those who meet minimum experience requirements.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  1. Will work with the design team to create structure configurations with pre-designed CAD blocks and site plan layouts.
  2. Work closely with all departments to ensure that the drawings convey the correct information for quoting, estimating, and production.
  3. Self-check own work for completeness, accuracy, meeting standards, fits and stack-ups.
  4. May be responsible for some design elements.
  5. Work from drawings, sketches or scanned images, customer drawings, or Government drawings or specifications.
  6. Will use accepted drawing standards and conventions as guidelines.
  7. May also be required to complete/pass a Certified Playground Safety Inspector test.
  8. Must have strong problem solving skills.
  9. Must be flexible.
  10. Must be able to work within tight deadlines and/or under pressure.
  11. Other duties may be assigned by Manager or Supervisor.


Education and/or Experience

  • Required: The applicant must have Auto CAD experience. 3D modeling experience a plus
  • Desirable: Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word & Excel a strong plus
  • Work experience in a manufacturing work environment preferred.
  • Diploma or Certificate of training in Drafting Technology preferred but not required.
  • Experience in Landscape Architecture or similar is ideal.
  • Minimum one-year experience preferred or a combination of training and experience.

Computer Skills

  • Demonstrated proficiency with MS Excel, Word, PowerPoint and Access
  • Must have experience working with AutoCad
  • Experience with an ERP system is strongly preferred but not required.

Physical Demands

General work environment is office with frequent visits to the manufacturing floor. Must be able to talk/hear to communicate, converse with discern, convey, exchange information. Frequently using hands and fingers to operate computer. Must be able to sit for long periods of time in an office setting. Frequently seeing to detect, distinguish, perceive, identify, recognize, judge, inspect, estimate and assess drawings, renderings, materials, colors, etc.

Personal Protective Equipment

Safety glasses, safety toe shoes are required when in the factory.
