POSITION SUMMARY

The Community Navigator will collaborate with the Program Director for the Sexual Risk Avoidance Evidence Based Program (SRA EBP) in conducting community outreach, partner, and volunteer recruiting activities in support of the Love Notes – SRA EBP. 

 

 

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

  • Create and execute a development plan that expands the SRA EBP into new junior high, high schools, youth organizations, and youth based programs in the DC metro area,
  • Forge new relationships to build and increase youth participation in the Love Notes – SRA EBP,
  • In collaboration with the Director of Community Outreach, draft and execute strategic communication strategies designed to raise the visibility and value of the SBA EBP,
  • Recruit and train college students and community members to participate as volunteers in facilitating learning sessions, mentoring youth,
  • Establish and maintain positive and effective relationships with project team, clients and partners,
  • Other duties as assigned. 

QUALIFICATIONS AND EDUCATION REQUIREMENTS

  • Bachelor’s Degree preferred.  Field of Study:  Education, Youth Development, Social Behavior Science or related field,
  • Two (2) plus years’ experience in community development, outreach and communications and/or working with youth,
  • Knowledge of the DC metro community programs a plus. 

 

SKILLS AND OTHER REQUIREMENTS

  • Proficient in Microsoft Applications (Access, Excel, Word, and Power Point),
  • Video Conferencing,
  • Microsoft Applications (Access, Excel, Word, and Power Point),
  • Highly organized with the ability to support multiple requirements and requests simultaneously while meeting deadlines,
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills,
  • Excellent interpersonal and facilitation skills,
  • Valid Driver’s License,
  • Reliable transportation with valid insurance,
  • Ability to pass background and drug screening,
  • Must pass child protective clearances for the District of Columbia, Maryland and Virginia,
  • Physical and TB Test.
