The Sr Director of Accounting ensures the integrity and accuracy of general accounting (General ledger-based activity), internal controls related to financial reporting, account reconciliations, tax compliance & accounting, and financial reporting. Provides information, primarily financial in nature, about all company activities that will assist the CFO and management, its shareholders, and other users in making educated economic decisions about the company’s future and strategy.


Essential Functions

  • Work with CFO to ensure all reporting (internal reporting, Group/Parent reporting, external audits, etc.) are accurately and timely prepared, including appropriate narratives.
  • Oversee the activities of the Accounting staff for the accurate and timely dissemination of financial management reports including, but not limited to, internal and external monthly financial statements, annual audits, tax compliance, etc.
  • Oversee the activities of the accounting staff, ensuring the accurate and timely processing of journal entries, month-end close processes, and tax data.
  • Coordinates audits with external auditors (year-end audit, tax audits, internal review by Group/Parent company, etc.) and serves as the primary liaison with auditors.
  • Guides financial decisions by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing accounting policies and procedures.
  • Protects assets by establishing, monitoring, and enforcing internal controls.
  • Provides status of financial condition by collecting, interpreting, and reporting financial data.
  • Complies with federal, state, and local reporting requirements by studying existing and new legislation, enforcing adherence to requirements; filing financial reports; advising management on needed actions.
  • Working with outside tax advisors, ensure the accurate and timely completion of all corporate income tax compliance and corporate income tax returns, taking full advantage of all favorable tax codes.
  • Establish and maintain systems and controls that verify the integrity of all systems, processes and data, and enhance the company's value.
  • Participate in a wide variety of special projects and compile a variety of special reports, as requested.
  • Protects operations by keeping financial information and plans confidential.
  • Communicate with all co-workers, management, customers and others in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Conform with and abide by all regulations, policies, work procedures and instructions.
  • Other duties as assigned.



  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or related field required; MAcc, MBA or MBT preferred
  • CPA certification strongly preferred (inactive acceptable).
  • Seven to ten years of experience in Accounting-related roles required; at least 2 years of public accounting experience strongly preferred
  • At least three to five years of experience leading a team, including hiring, performance management, coaching & development, and corrective action (as needed)
  • Solid experience coordinating audit activities, managing financial reporting, and general ledger maintenance.
  • Experience with accounting/ERP system design, implementation and testing
  • Solid understanding of inter-company transactions, eliminations, and reporting.
  • Experience in a publicly-traded company is preferred
  • Strong understanding of Sarbanes-Oxley requirements and/or ICFR (Internal Control over Financial Reporting) rules
  • Understanding of foreign currency exchange issues and accounting.
  • Strong knowledge of GAAP accounting rules and working knowledge of IFRS standards.

  • Strong, concise, and effective verbal and written communication skills; experience in effectively communicating key data and financial themes to non-accounting personnel
  • Keen analytic, organization and problem-solving skills which allow for strategic data interpretation versus simple reporting.
  • Strong time management and organizational skills.
  • Personal qualities of integrity, credibility, a proactive hands-on strategic thinker who will own, in partnership with the CFO, the responsibility for accounting and financial reporting.
  • Proven success at meeting deadlines - excellent time management skills,
  • Ability to collaborate effectively with other teams and individuals.
  • Comfortable working with colleagues based other parts of the world. International travel (as needed) to Paris, France or other locations (expected to be infrequent).
