Perform various tasks involved in the manufacturing of products including material moving, packing, assembly of parts made of different materials including but not limited to,hardware,and steel pipe according to a production plan, forms of instructions to complete standard and custom work orders according to customer specifications and delivery expectations.

The Assembly Operator must follow all applicable safety procedures to avoid injuries including but not limited to request for help from co-workers with loads exceeding 40 pounds, proper handling of raw materials, follow all operational instructions when operating or using tools and equipment. Job may require overtime and a flexible schedule, reporting early and working late including weekends from time to time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Performs preparations for assembly of products by cleaning and inspecting the parts to be assembled according to quality specifications on sales order, and packing slips verbal instructions and other forms of instructions, to assure that the assembly job will be completed to meet customer and delivery standards. Selects and sets up all the necessary tools and equipment including but not limited to jig saw, skill saw, drill, impact, routers, and a torch to flame the product, staple guns, riveting machines to complete the assigned work order.

Operates equipment and machines accordingly to specific operational and safety instructions. Examines his/her work including, inspecting assembled parts for accuracy in dimensions, color, visual inspections for cosmetic and surface defects, aided with the use of hand tools and measuring devices to meet work order or drawing specifications. Inspects the assembled product, obtains the necessary help from coworkers and follows the quality procedure and work order sheet to assure compliance with quality standards of the product. Verbally communicates to maintenance technician any machinery and equipment functional problems and notifies supervisor any quality or production issues detected. Implements and maintains 5’S practices in his/hers work area including in equipment according to company procedures. May be designated according to the product assembly requirements as General Labor, Assembly Operator, Hardware Operator or other designations as per company operation requirements. The Assembly Operator may be required to perform additional duties not specifically describe herein.


Job Requirements:

High school diploma preferred but not required

Experience in production or manual labor helpful

Ability to read and write and comprehend for purpose of communicating safety instructions and work directions; perform simple math calculations, including performing measurements with measuring tape, reading manufacturing paperwork such as drawings, diagrams, shop documents and record information as necessary on forms provided. Be aware of and observe quality requirements. Must be able to work with manual and powered hand tools. Will train work details on the job.
