Job Title: Dental Receptionist
Department: Dental
Reports To: Clinic Manager
Work Type: On-Site, floater position between our Oregon City and Milwaukie clinics
Classification: Non-Exempt, Full-Time with four 10-hour days
Language Differential: Eligible

SUMMARY

This position is responsible for collecting and recording patient information by answering phones, scheduling appointments, checking insurance eligibility, and gathering demographic patient information.

Essential Job Duties

  • Greets patients and answers phones with friendly demeanor and professionalism.
  • Gathers visit reason, financial and demographic information from patients and inputs accurately into EHR (Dentrix & EPIC)
  • Schedules appointments and maintains patient records.
  • Confirms patients insurance eligibility and coverage information.
  • Scrubs patient charts on a daily basis.
  • Scans & indexes documentation into medical records according to company procedures.
  • Receives and routes messages and documents to appropriate dental staff.
  • Assists in new employee training on specific tasks, as needed.
  • Works collaboratively in a team environment with a spirit of cooperation.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education and/or Experience

  • This position requires a high school diploma or equivalent.
  • At least one year experience in a fast-paced customer service setting, preferably in a healthcare.
  • Previous EHR experience is preferred.
  • This position requires basic knowledge of dental terminology.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities & Behaviors

  • Ability to communicate professionally both orally and in writing with a service-oriented approach, sometimes in stressful circumstances.
  • Basic knowledge of dental terminology.
  • Ability to enter in data accurately with attention to detail.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and comply with HIPAA policies.
  • Ability to work in a fast-paced environment.
  • Ability to answer and utilize multiple line telephone.
  • Ability to learn and adapt to changing information and/or policies and procedures.
  • Must be able to display sensitivity to the population and patients served.
  • Must be able to demonstrate a record of reliable attendance and punctuality.
  • Intermediate or higher proficiency of MS Office Suite (Outlook, Word)
  • Ability to proficiently use Dentrix and EPIC Electronic Health Record.
  • Ability to fluently speak, read, and write in Spanish is required.

WORKING CONDITIONS

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is required to frequently use fingers to type and feel, will sit for long periods of time, and will frequently be required to do filing; occasional bending, kneeling, or stooping may be required. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
