Water and Power Community Credit Union (WPCCU). WPCCU was founded in 1936 to serve the financial needs of the employees of Los Angeles Department of Water and Power. As Los Angeles grew, so did WPCCU. Today, after eighty years, WPCCU is a full service community-based financial institution open to anyone that lives in Los Angeles County.

At WPPCU, we are passionate about providing really cool banking solutions and revising the way people experience financial services. “Helping you afford life” and “People before profits” aren’t just buzz words for us. They’re literally words we live by. Shareholder profits don’t drive us. Our members, our families, and the communities we live and work in are all that matter here.

We’re strong supporters of the credit union movement, and of providing our members with the education, support, and guidance to build strong, independent financial futures. WPCCU can give employees the best of both worlds – a financially stable place to work and one that is nimble enough to behave like a “start-up.”

And we want your help.

What You Will Do

The home base for this dream job is in Sun Valley, California. The following is a sneak peek into what a  Member Service Representative looks like:

  • MEMBER SERVICE Assists members with their banking requests; answers questions about credit union products and services and resolves problems within established parameters and authorities.
  • SALES Promotes a retail sales environment by selling all credit union products and services. Required to meet and maintain minimum sales objectives assigned by management.
  • CREDIT UNION/BANKING KNOWLEDGE Demonstrates proficiency in all credit union products and services, such as IRA accounts, Consumer Lending, Checking Accounts, and New Membership
  • BRANCH RELATIONS Maintains a professional relationship with other departments in the Credit Union and inform them of concerns or issues within the department.
  • RESOURCE Act as a resource to credit union employees in all member service/customer matters including training, regulatory exams, and other audits.
  • GROW our services by driving business product development.
  • STAND shoulder to shoulder with our members and your WPCCU teammates.

Who You Are

Enough about us. Who you are…or who we think you are, or who you really want to be:

  • You are dedicated, motivated, and detailed orientated
  • You have excellent time management skills
  • You possess 5+ years of experience as a Personal Banker or Member Service Representative.
  • You are approachable and have the knack to assist others with complex issues
  • You have a background in a financial institution
  • You have been complimented on your communication skills and pride yourself on being able to vocalize “I love working in a group and facilitating the best possible outcome!”
  •

We know you might not have every qualification we’ve listed. Passion and potential matter here. If you know you’re right for the position, let us know. We’re good at spotting talent.

What’s In It For You

Hang in there. We’re almost finished. Besides, this is the payoff:

  • You’ll be the voice of the credit union, when members call in: You will ensure that the members needs are being met and have the knowledge to educate them. That sounds pretty amazing.
  • This is a career: Lead Member Service Representative is a career at WPCCU. We invest in developing your skills and promote heavily from within. While we hope you stay with us until you retire, Credit Unions across the country collaborate with each other and hire from within.
  • Seriously good benefits: beyond healthcare, dental, and life insurance, we have a pretty sweet package. WPCCU employees get a 6% company contribution to their 401K, generous personal time off, and an employee discount on loans (that includes cars and homes)!

Other Important Information

You’ll be asked to work a schedule Monday through Friday- 40 hours per week with one to two Saturdays per month. You’ll use standard office equipment such as computers, phones, printers, copiers, and filing cabinets. The position also requires manual dexterity- the ability to lift files and flex paperclips. You may be required to stand on one leg, tap your head, and compound daily variable interest in your head. Just kidding- nobody can do that on one leg.
