Master’s level degree in Social Work, Nursing, Behavioral Sciences or related field, or person who meets waiver criteria of RCW 71.24.260 is required. Must meet and maintain the definition of a Mental Health Professional as defined in WAC 388-877-0500. Must maintain a Washington State Department of Health license in good standing. Two years of postgraduate, documented, supervised clinical experience with the chronically mentally ill, co-occurring mental health and substance abuse, substance related disorders, and emotionally disturbed clients required. Substance abuse disorders treatment knowledge. Ability to deescalate potentially volatile situations with clients. Excellent interpersonal and verbal skills. Must be able to effectively document using both handwriting and agency recognized computer word processing formats. Trained and meets qualifications as a Kitsap County Designated Crisis Responder. Possess and maintain valid driver’s license with an acceptable motor vehicle report.
While performing the duties of the job, the employee is required to walk, sit, talk or listen. A fair degree of flexibility and strength is required to assist in the infrequent, yet essential organized restraint of clients on KMHS campus. This may require lifting more than 40 pounds. This position requires the ability to react quickly and perceive environmental stimuli accurately, including the ability to physically flee a situation and/or defend oneself against assault.
