After School Program Swim Instructor

Responsibilities: The After-School Program (ASP) at Head-Royce School offers swim lessons every Fall and Spring during the academic school year. The role of ASP Swim Instructor consists of offering both private and semi-private swim lessons to students within the grade levels K-5th. Instructors will offer 30 minute lessons to students, M-Th for four weeks, starting at 3:00pm and ending at 5:30pm.

Skills:

■ Implements swimming and water safety instructional programs; prepares and delivers technical guidance, age-appropriate and skill-focused lessons based upon participant abilities.

■ Enforces safety rules and regulations to prevent accidents. Makes rescues and administers first aid when necessary.

■ Interacts with parents/guardians on the activities and development of students’ swim skills

■ Works collaboratively with participants and other aquatics staff (as needed) to ensure a positive learning environment.

■ Inspects and maintains swimming pool and equipment for functionality; ensures proper placement and availability in the pool area; recommends maintenance and repair as needed.

■ Performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

■ Current CPR/First Aid certification

■ Water Safety Instructor Certification (WSI)

■ Lifeguard certification (if interested in lifeguarding as well)

Compensation:

● $23-$25/hour, dependent upon experience
