Position Overview:

The Utility Preparation/Dishwasher is responsible for keeping the kitchen clean, safe, and stocked with various kitchen/catering items.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Utility/Dishwasher: Able to wash dishes, cups and silverware. Restock dishes, cups and silverware. Load event equipment onto carts and vehicles. Maintain, clean and organize kitchen equipment to ensure proper working condition. Load/unload dishwashers. Clean, sweep, mop floors, dishwashing and organized cooking materials. Complete product inventories, stock new inventory, and merchandise food products.

Teamwork: Contribute to a positive team environment. Recognize and reinforce individual and team accomplishments. Identify alarms or changes in morale and performance. Communicate areas of concern to the manager. Maintain calm demeanor during periods of high volume or unusual events to set a positive example for the team. Anticipate customer and team needs by evaluating the environment, customers and co-workers for shifts or changes in behavior. Communicate observations to manager as necessary.

Safety & Sanitation: Follow operational policies and procedures. Follow health, safety and sanitation guidelines. Clean, sanitize and organize work areas, utensils, and equipment. Clean service and seating areas. Organize and stock supplies, service stations and products. Check temperatures of freezers, refrigerators, and heating equipment to ensure proper functioning. Scrub and polish counters, tables, and other equipment. Clean glasses, dishes, and fountain equipment. Perform other duties such as sweeping, mopping, and washing dishes, to keep equipment and facilities sanitary.

Additional projects and assignments as needed.


Job Qualifications:

  • Ability to learn new things and demonstrate the ability to apply new skills.
  • Ability to work with little guidance, following previously provided instructions once trained.
  • Ability to maintain regular and consistent attendance and punctuality.

Minimum Qualifications:

  • High school diploma.
  • One year of food service, inventory, or maintenance required.
  • Willingness to maintain personal hygiene and follow hand washing requirements.

Physical Demands

  • Work in a fast paced kitchen environment including various facilities and outside property.
  • Standing and Continuous Movement - The ability to exert yourself physically over long periods of time without getting winded or out of breath.
  • Lifting and Strength — Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. Ability to use your abdominal and lower back muscles to support part of the body repeatedly or continuously over time without 'giving out' or fatiguing.
  • Manual Dexterity — The ability to quickly move your hand, your hand together with your arm, or your two hands to grasp, manipulate, or assemble objects. May include copping, cutting, stocking, labeling, etc.
  • Near Vision — The ability to see details at close range (within a few feet of the observer).
