Position Overview:
This is a full-time position. The Marketing Assistant I assists in the marketing, communications, or sales of a department. Aid in coordinating promotional events. Updates and assembles promotional packets, and provide support to senior personnel in developing marketing, communications, and sales plans. The general schedule for this position is 40 hours a week, Monday through Friday, 8:00 am to 5:00 pm.
Department Specific Essential Job Functions:
In coordination with the Senior Director of Chambers Library, this position is responsible for assisting with the development, coordination, and execution of the Chambers Library communications and marketing efforts to improve awareness and understanding of Library resources, services, and events, among campus stakeholders and external communities. This position works closely with the Senior Director of Chambers Library, as well as other Library colleagues who coordinate communications at the department level. Assists with the production of the FOL newsletter and assists with fundraising campaigns and membership drives. Assists with library-wide publicity activities. This position will coordinate Library social media accounts including posting, analyzing for trends, and advertising. The Library's Marketing Assistant serves as the initial point of contact for questions from within the campus community and when indicated, for external inquiries. Serves as the Library’s representative on the campus Communicators Council. Reports to the Senior Director Chambers Library. Performs other related duties as assigned.
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:
Ability to use analyze trends on social media platforms. Must be computer literate in the use of relevant software applications (word processing, spreadsheets, database management, graphic design, video production), Excellent communication skills (written and oral), organizational and public relations skills, Ability to work well with others, Ability to operate office equipment, Ability to multitask and give attention to detail. Demonstrates a warm and caring professional service-oriented attitude. Ability to maintain confidentiality, Ability to work well in a hectic and stressful environment. Must be self-motivated, ability to listen and synthesize directives.
