SUMMARY: Responsible for overseeing the day to day operations of the Front Desk and Bell stand.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES: Other duties may be assigned by the Director of Rooms or General Manager.

Guest Services: 70%

  • Approach all encounters with guests and employees in a friendly, service-oriented manner
  • Respond to guest requests
  • Responsible for safety, sanitation, and cleanliness of service areas
  • Finding and correcting billing and payment errors
  • Make daily improvements to the front desk guest experience

Managerial Tasks: 20%

  • Maintain high standards of personal appearance and grooming, which include wearing the proper uniform and name tag when working
  • Recruit, hire, train, and evaluate Front Desk Agents and Bellmen
  • Responsible for ongoing training hourly employees to maintain standards of service and G.S.S. Scores
  • Responsible for holding Front Desk Agents and Bellmen accountable for their actions and taking appropriate disciplinary action when necessary
  • Maintain a professional working relationship and promote open lines of communication with managers, employees, and other departments
  • Supervise the work of Front Desk Agents and Bellmen and observe the performance of hourly service personnel
  • Cross train as necessary
  • Regulate employee time card to avoid unnecessary overtime and clock-in/clock-out errors
  • Conduct performance reviews of Front Desk Agents and Bell Staff
  • Ensure staff is fully trained in emergency procedures
  • Hold monthly department meetings keeping staff informed of all activities in the hotel
  • Reinforce standards of excellence
  • Promote a strong team atmosphere and culture
  • Supervise the Upsell program
  • Maximize revenue for the hotel by being a part of the Yield Management team

Administrative Tasks: 10%

  • Responsible for meeting and exceeding all Marriott and hotel standards
  • Participate in required M.O.D. coverage as scheduled
  • Handle items for the “Lost and Found” according to standards
  • Handle all aspects of scheduling for the front desk and bell stand
  • Hold daily standup meeting with Rooms Department
  • Attend weekly staff meeting
  • Be aware and able to enforce all fire, life, and safety procedures
  • Remain current in all updates with regards to new procedures and training
  • Set front office budget
  • Monitor profit & loss and cash handling


QUALIFICATIONS/SKILLS: each essential duty satisfactorily. skill, and/or ability required.

  • Ability to read and write in English
  • Ability to read and comprehend instructions, short correspondence, and memos
  • Ability to write correspondence
  • Ability to effectively present information in one-on-one and small group situations to customers, clients, and employees
  • Must be able to pass a background check

DESIRED QUALIFICATIONS: Bachelor’s degree in hospitality or related field and two years of experience at a hotel front desk.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS: While performing the duties of this job, the person must be able to remain in a stationary position. The person must be able to constantly operate a computer and telephone to communicate with potential guests.

WORK SCHEDULE: Work a full time varied schedule including days, nights, weekdays, and weekends as assigned by department Supervisor or Manager.
