Description

Summary:

DWCs mission is to end homelessness for women in greater Los Angeles through housing, wellness, employment, and advocacy. Project Roomkey is a state-wide initiative to shelter the most vulnerable individuals experiencing homelessness in hotel rooms, and provide them with resources needed to ensure their health and wellbeing, and facilitate a pathway for permanent housing. The role of the Sr. Project Roomkey Service Coordinator is to assist with onsite service coordination between healthcare staff, meals distribution, and case management. This includes direct support to women residing onsite, ensuring their access to facilities and resources, and providing support and crisis intervention as needed. Sr. Project Roomkey Service Coordinators are responsible for enrolling participants in the program, assessing their service needs, and ensuring that they are connected to basic needs, permanent housing, health, and mental health resources as needed. As a Project Roomkey team-member you will work to create a safe and welcoming environment that meets the immediate needs of the Project Roomkey participants. This position reports directly to the Domestic Violence Housing Program Manager.

 

Essential Functions

  1. Help coordinate and track daily Project Room Key operations, including serving as the point person for coordination of services onsite, health screenings, meal distribution, curfew compliance, and implementing program protocols
  2. Conduct intakes and entry in into CES, assess client needs and provide trauma informed case management services, including referrals, hygiene products, clothing and other necessities
  3. Orient new clients to the program, provide them with program information and outline expectations
  4. Assist clients in securing and maintaining housing, basic needs resources, medical and mental health services (including substance abuse treatment when necessary), job training and public benefits
  5. Work to effectively meet clients needs and resolve individual barriers through follow-up, advocacy and collaboration with DWC staff and other community service providers
  6. Maintain accurate and timely records of activities and services provided to clients in Homeless Management Information System (HMIS) database system, case management notes, and other tracking tools
  7. Ensure a safe and welcoming environment: respond to requests, address complaints, intervene in and de-escalate situations, provide support to staff, problem-solve issues in a timely manner, provide crisis intervention when needed and follow guidelines to maintain structure and safety for participants
  8. Ensure that all safety protocols are being followed, including proper hygiene and sanitization, and use of personal protective equipment

  10. Distribute resources directly to participants as appropriate
  11. Assist with outreach to develop new resources as directed
  12. Assist with Project Roomkey tracking and data entry as needed
  13. Other duties as assigned to support the mission of the organization

Competencies

  1. Knowledge of issues related to womens poverty, homelessness, mental illness, trauma, substance abuse, health issues, and older adults preferred
  2. Excellent customer service and strong interpersonal skills; ability to engage a diverse group of participants, team-members and volunteers
  3. Ability to exercise and model good judgment, teamwork and professionalism, especially in crisis situations with the ability to utilize crisis intervention and de-escalation techniques within DWC guidelines
  4. Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook)
  5. Strong written and oral communication skills required
  6. Detail-oriented, highly organized, able to manage multiple tasks and priorities, and set and meet goals and deadlines
  7. Great crisis intervention skills and an ability to de-escalate escalated clients in a trauma informed manner

 

Supervisory Responsibility
This position does not have any supervisory responsibilities.

Work Environment

Project Roomkey is a hotel site that is staffed seven days per week 24hrs/day to provide supportive services to homeless and low-income women residing in the program.

Physical Demands

  1. Candidate must be able to bend, stand on a step stool, walk stairs and lift at least 25-45lbs
  2. Carry and sort donations
  3. Ability to operate computer, phones, fax and printer
  4. Move furniture to assist with set-up/take-down, including but not limited to tables, chairs, and cots

 

Position Type and Expected Hours of Work
This is a Full-Time position and works a shift of 7am 3:30pm Monday - Friday

Travel
Minimal traveling may be required for activities, meetings and/or trainings as directed

Qualifications

Required Education and Experience 

  1. Associate’s degree or equivalent experience preferred
  2. Experience providing case management services to a risk/high need populations preferred
  3. Experience providing services to individuals experiencing homelessness preferred
  4. Oral and written fluency in both Spanish and English preferred
