Job purpose

Working with management, Supervisors help to lead, coach and train Seniors and Staff in various areas of tax compliance and across consulting engagements in a collaborative effort to help clients minimize tax liabilities.

Duties and responsibilities

Commitment to Client Service

  • Collaborates with others to provide quality service to clients
  • Engages in professional and efficient communication with clients
  • Promotes additional services to client when appropriate
  • Communicates with the IRS and other state authorities in a professional manner when applicable
  • Stays abreast of current economic and business events

Technical Skills

  • Accurately prepares complex partnership, S Corporation and individual tax returns, including projections and estimate calculations
  • Efficiently reviews tax returns from Seniors and Staff
  • Develops a working knowledge of partnership taxation including book-ups under §704(b) and step-ups under §754
  • Develops an advanced understanding of IRC sections 1445 (FIRPTA) and 1446 along with related tax forms (1042, 8804, 8805)
  • Ability to review partnership agreements with management
  • Accurately performs research and writes technical memorandums in a readable format
  • Researches and prepares work papers for various book to tax differences
  • Identifies area of specialization and is continuously refining skills, knowledge and expertise

  • Effectively motivates, utilizes and supervises Staff and Seniors
  • Supports Seniors, Staff and Interns in professional development
  • Trains Seniors, Staff and Interns on both how to prepare and review returns
  • Builds and maintains positive relationships across the firm
  • Contributes and supports new ideas

Business Results

  • Executes feedback to minimize repeated errors and apply new concepts
  • Maintains open communication with management regarding the progress of completion on projects
  • Participates actively in training and developmental opportunities, both as an attendee and as a facilitator
  • Enters time daily

Executive Presence

  • Participates in Firm events
  • Commits to outside reading, studying and professional growth
  • Actively studying and preparing for the CPA certification

Qualifications

Qualifications

Qualifications include:

  • Undergraduate degree required, Master’s preferred
  • 4+ years of tax experience is required
  • Advanced knowledge of partnership tax law and principles of individual and business taxation is required
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Strong commitment to professional and client service excellence
  • Proven time management, organizational and prioritization skills
  • Ability to effectively manage multiple engagements simultaneously
