WHO WE’RE SEEKING:

We’re seeking a unique individual who will embody the heart and soul of Fort Worth Stockyards while caring deeply about our brand and community – someone who acts as an extension of our mission, values, and culture. This person is driven to create meaningful experiences for our team members, guests, and community while simultaneously ensuring operational success of Hotel Drover. This person is responsible for the management and optimization of purchasing activities and processes. A Purchasing Director should have excellent leadership abilities and be able to negotiate the best possible deals with suppliers. Responsible for developing purchasing strategies, maintaining positive relationships with suppliers, evaluating supply options, coordinating with internal teams regarding their supply needs, and overseeing the purchasing team in their daily activities. In addition, ensuring all duties are performed within the guidelines of Hotel Drover policies and procedures, Internal Control Standards, and objectives. We are seeking an individual who can bring the vision of Hotel Drover and the Fort Worth Heritage Development to life. ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Develop and implement procurement strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Identify, evaluate, and negotiate with suppliers to secure the best quality.
  • Oversee the purchasing budget for cost-effectiveness and financial adherence.
  • Negotiate, and manage contracts with suppliers.
  • Conduct market research to identify trends, opportunities, and risks in the supply chain.
  • Monitor inventory levels to ensure adequate stock while minimizing excess.
  • Work with other departments (e.g., finance, operations) to align procurement activities.
  • Ensure procurement processes comply with laws and regulations; assess supplier risks.
  • Lead and mentor the purchasing team, fostering professional development and collaboration.
  • Managing inventories and maintaining accurate purchase and pricing records.
  • Managing supplier relations and negotiating contracts, prices, timelines, etc.
  • Researching and evaluating prospective suppliers.
  • Preparing budgets, cost analyses, and reports.
  • Managing daily purchasing activities, supervising staff, and allocating tasks.
  • Ensuring that all procured items meet the required quality standards and specifications.
  • Performs other duties as assigned

 

MUST HAVES:

  • Ability to negotiate with suppliers.
  • Proficiency in analyzing data to make informed purchasing decisions.
  • Understanding of budgeting, cost analysis, and financial forecasting.
  • Familiarity with the specific industry and market trends.
  • Proven ability to lead and develop a procurement team.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication for effective collaboration.
  • Ability to address challenges and find solutions in procurement processes.
  • Experience in managing projects and timelines effectively.
  • Strong focus on accuracy and compliance in contracts and purchasing processes.
  • Mathematical skills, including basic math, budgeting, profit/loss concepts, percentages, and variances are utilized frequently.
  • A love for the history and future of the FW Stockyards

Qualifications

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Several years (typically 5-10) of experience in procurement or supply chain management, with progressive leadership responsibilities.
  • Proficiency in procurement software (Birchstreet) and data analysis tools.
  • Strong understanding of budgeting, financial analysis, and cost management.
  • Proven track record of leading teams and managing cross-functional projects.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
