Job Summary

Smalley is currently hiring a Manufacturing Manager! This position is responsible for managing a manufacturing work center with a strong focus on processes and procedures, first pass quality, efficient throughput and workflow management in the most cost-effective manner possible. The Manufacturing Manager will oversee all resources with a high level of cross-functional engagement and efficiently utilizes resources to develop a highly trained workforce.


  • Manages KPIs and goals to ensure work center meets or surpasses defined expectations (e.g., on time jobs, actuals vs. planned hours, labor utilization, and work center skill matrix/depth chart)
  • Performs all duties as assigned and adheres to Smalleys core values
  • Performs daily safety walks to ensure all safety procedures are in compliance
  • Handles all quality assurance concerns within the work center: ISO compliance, late reports, incident reports, and corrective actions
  • Identifies areas to improve manufacturing processes and implements industry best practices
  • Works with Director regarding budgets and expenses to ensure all financial goals are successfully realized
  • Prepares, analyzes and reports on regularly tracked metrics and performance to goals and objectives
  • Accountable for work centers operation and budget performance
  • Initiates large scale process improvement, is a change champion, and encourages continuous improvement
  • Manages staff resources (staffing and machines) and organization structure to adequately align with and meet business objectives
  • Monitors and reviews performance of direct reports, and provides prompt and objective coaching, mentoring and counseling
  • Coaches and mentors the team to ensure stable effective floor leadership
  • Resolves performance, job satisfaction, and interpersonal issues, balancing employee and department needs
  • Maintains onboarding, training guides and current skill matrix; guides creation of professional development plan
  • Promotes and ensures positive and effective employee engagement


  • Bachelors degree preferred or equivalent work experience in management and manufacturing
  • At least 5 years of previous team management experience
  • Lean Manufacturing background
  • Superior process improvement/development/implementation skills
  • Experience in 6S design, development and implementation
  • Authorized to work in the US on a permanent basis
  • Effective communication skills, both written and verbal
