Tax Manager
Job Details


This position will serve as a technical tax resource for the Company and be involved with the federal, state and local tax compliance for the all entities under the AMU corporate umbrella (S-Corp, C-Corp, and LLC’s). This position will proactively interact with the finance staff to gather information, resolve tax-related matters, as well as make recommendations for business and process improvements. The incumbent will work considerably with the external accounting firms to facilitate their work in preparing the Company’s annual tax returns. This individual will also work on special projects as directed by the CFO.


  • Research and preparation of responses to inquiries from taxing authorities.
  • Monthly review and maintenance of Fixed Assets system
  • Monthly review and maintenance of tax related G/L accounts
  • Quarterly preparation of taxable income estimates for all primary entities.
  • Quarterly review of sales and use tax filings prepared by the finance staff
  • Semi-annual preparation / compliance with the TIF Commission
  • Annual preparation and review of property tax filings
  • Annual preparation and review of KCMO Business License returns
  • Manage Annual Report compliance for C-Corp and preparation of some state reports.
  • Preparation of income tax support workpapers for all primary entities
  • Preparation of federal and state tax returns for primary entities.
  • Review draft tax returns prepared by the external firms
  • Coordinating / overseeing withholding compliance (US / Foreign)
  • Coordinating / filing FBAR returns
  • Prepare Canada GST tax filings and reconcile GST receivable account.
  • Coordinate with external tax firm professionals
  • Maintaining tax footnote support for deferred taxes, tax expense, and NOL carry forward.
  • Research and respond to any questions that arise that relate to income taxes both foreign and domestic.
  • Performing other job-related duties and special projects, as requested
  • Other responsibilities within the Finance department may also be overseen by this position depending on the individual’s skill set and capacity.

  • Four year B.S. degree in Accounting
  • 5 years of public accounting tax experience
  • Strong tax accounting skills with proficiency in US GAAP, tax compliance, and knowledge of tax regulations.
  • CPA certification (current permit to practice is not required)
  • The ideal candidate will possess a strong understanding of federal, state and foreign tax issues
  • Highly defined skills using Microsoft Office
