Job Summary:

Work closely with the Chief Financial Officer and Controller to ensure smooth operations of the Accounting department.  This position is responsible for providing financial information by maintaining and reconciling accounts, preparing preliminary general ledger and preparing reports.

Essential Job Duties and Responsibilities:

  1. Remain up-to-date on Paycom reading as assigned.
  1. Prepare, examine, or analyze accounting records, financial statements, or other financial reports to assess accuracy, completeness, and conformance to reporting and procedural standards.
  1. Maintain and balance subsidiary accounts by verifying, allocating, posting, reconciling transactions; resolve discrepancies.
  1. Reconcile bank accounts and prepare related entries for the general ledger.
  1. Use relevant information and individual judgment to determine whether events or processes comply with laws, regulations or company standards.
  1. Be a visible leader promoting teamwork to ensure team is as efficient as possible.
  1. Create and maintain operational reporting from the accounting system.
  1. Identify errors; Suggest and implement solutions and/or methods to improve efficiency.
  1. Prepare interim and year-end audit schedules.
  1. Assist with maintaining fixed asset records.
  1. Complete and submit sales tax forms monthly, quarterly and annually for multiple states.
  1. Prepare and file property tax reports for multiple states.
  1. Perform other business related duties as assigned.
  1. Light housekeeping to keep the facilities and grounds in perfect order.  This includes keeping work areas tidy, picking up litter on the grounds and general straightening up.

Qualifications

 

  • 4-year College Degree in Accounting or Finance, preferred
  • Minimum 2 (2) years demonstrated accounting experience
  • Great Plains Accounting Software experience or similar ERP systems, preferred
  • Public accounting experience with an emphasis in audit, preferred
  • Familiarity with Microsoft Excel
  • Good people skills with ability to relate to a wide range of people
  • Detail oriented with strong organizational skills
  • Ability to work independently and within a team environment
  • Ability to ensure work is complete and accurate
  • Ability to manage time effectively in order to organize and prioritize work load
  • Ability to work under time constraints and conform with established schedules and deadlines
