The Senator John Heinz History Center, a Smithsonian Affiliate and the largest history museum in Pennsylvania, is currently seeking a creative and motivated Communications Coordinator.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, this position is an important member of a dynamic team responsible for developing and executing integrated marketing campaigns that increase attendance and public awareness for exhibits, programs, and strategic initiatives across the History Center’s family of museums.
This is an exciting opportunity for a junior-level communications professional who has a passion for writing, collaboration, and making history relevant in our community.
Key responsibilities:
- Assists the Director of Marketing & Communications with media requests, on-site interviews and filming, and proactive media outreach.
- Writes and copyedits various marketing materials, including press releases, newsletter stories, social media posts, e-newsletters, website listings, brochures, talking points, radio scripts, blog posts, and other materials as needed.
- Serves as a primary marketing contact and social media content creator for the Fort Pitt Museum and Meadowcroft Rockshelter and Historic Village.
- Assists with researching, writing, and capturing engaging content for the museum’s social platforms.
- Manages media lists, leads media monitoring efforts, analyzes and reports metrics to key stakeholders throughout the organization.
- Compiles research, manages subscriptions, and performs other administrative tasks as necessary.
