POSITION: LRCHC Registered Nurse SPVHC

SALARY: $35.00 per hour (DOE)

REPORTS TO: Medical Director

LOCATION: San Poil Valley Health Center (Keller/Inchelium)

Basic Functions:

A Registered Nurse works under the direction of the Medical Director to fulfill the health centers mission.  The Registered Nurse (RN) will be providing direct nursing care to the patients of Lake Roosevelt Community Health Centers.  Such care must be in accordance with all current federal, state, and local standards, guidelines, regulations governing the facility, and to provide the highest degree of care to every patient.  The RN will record patient’s medical histories, symptoms, assist in performing diagnostic testing, administer IV fluids, nutrition, and provide monitoring and pain management as needed.    Utilizing professional standards of care and practice to evaluate self, programs, and service activities.  Supervises the Medical Assistants and acts as the lead mentor for MA trainees.  As the Registered Nurse, the individual will use professional standards of care and practice to evaluate self, programs, and service activities. Maintains knowledge of current techniques, trends, and professional issues. Utilizes group process to identify, analyze, and resolve care problems. Collaborate with others in research activities to improve care.  Identify and assess resource utilization and safety issues, taking appropriate action.

Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Training: 

  • High School Diploma or GED.
  • Bachelor of Science of Nursing Degree
  • Two years clinical nursing experience

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities: 

  • Knowledge of established professional nursing concepts and all nursing procedures. 
  • Knowledge of general administrative practices including use of all office machinery. A basic proficiency with a variety of computer programs including Microsoft IT applications, Word, Excel, and RPMS. 
  • Thorough knowledge of HIPAA, and Privacy regulations. 
  • Medical terminology is required for this position.  
  • Participates in team building, and conflict resolution.  
  • Exceptional organizational skills.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, the ability to keep detailed records.   
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills. 
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Requires sufficient human relations skills to work productively and cooperatively with other work teams, exercise patience when dealing with internal and external patients. 
  • Ability to prioritize work and handle a variety of tasks simultaneously, with frequent interruptions. 
  • Ability to effectively interact with a variety of patients, patients’ families, and employees in a professional manner. 
  • Ability to work independently with good decision-making skills.  Ability to operate medical equipment.  
  • Ability to provide primary care in a community health care environment. 
  • Ability to develop and maintain confidential health record files. Ensuring the medical records are maintained, accurate, and complete. 
  • Ability to work as a team member in a fast paced, highly visible, sometimes stressful setting and make sound decisions.

Physical Abilities:

Sitting, weightlifting up to 50 pounds, bending/stooping, crouching, twisting, reaching, operation of equipment tools, foot controls, etc. Requires sufficient hand-eye-arm coordination utilized to operate a variety of general office equipment. Requires visual acuity to read words and numbers. Requires auditory ability to carry on conversations over the phone and in person.

Licenses and Certificates:

Current RN licensure in WA State. Current ACLS certification. Wound Care certification – CWCN. Requires a valid Washington State Driver’s license and must be eligible for the Tribes vehicle insurance and maintain throughout employment. HIPAA and Privacy certificates required annually.

Working Conditions:

Work is performed indoors. Coordinates with other Tribal programs as services may be required/requested.

Special Conditions:

This position is subject to pre-employment, random, post-accident, and reasonable suspicion drug testing.  Must clear an extensive Criminal History Background inquiry reflecting no convictions in the past ten (10) years and NO felony convictions.  Better than average attendance record.  A background clearance may be required.  Tribal member and Indian preference will apply.  Preference will be giving to honorably discharged veterans who are minimally qualified.  Documented Covid-19 vaccination is required.
