Education

Departmental Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the Lifelong Learning team to create, curate, and disseminate resources for our constituents
  • Cultivate and maintain community related to Christian Formation
  • Partner with Lifelong Learning team members to host weekly Office Hours to support the ministry of Christian Formation
  • Act as a content expert in the area of Christian Formation, particularly in ministry for all ages and with children
  • Provide consultation on Godly Play
  • Attend departmental meetings and other gatherings as appropriate
  • Other duties as assigned

Forma

  • Cultivate and maintain community among Christian Formation leaders in partnership with the Forma Advisory Committee and social media moderators
  • Facilitate long-term planning and visioning process for Forma with attention to mission alignment in partnership with the Forma Advisory Committee
  • Oversee the work of the Forma Advisory Committee, including planning and execution of Forma conference and other programming
  • Convene and attend the Forma Advisory Committee regularly
  • Provide reasonable administrative support to the Forma Advisory Committee (or its designee) to include processing reimbursements, honoraria, etc. according to VTS policies
  • Develop and implement policies and procedures to streamline and simplify the administrative work between Forma and Lifelong Learning, working with the Department of Lifelong Learning Operations Manager
  • Manage Forma membership database and oversee process for member support, etc. with assistance from the Department of Lifelong Learning Manager of Digital and External Affairs
  • Maintain records and important documents related to the Forma-VTS relationship for archival purposes. Transfer documents to VTS archives annually.
  • Provide quarterly report on Forma to the Lifelong Learning team

Building Faith

  • Establish and maintain administrative processes working with Department Manager of Operations
  • Seek out new authors and content with particular attention to diverse voices from traditionally marginalized communities
  • Coordinate and carry out the posting of new articles twice weekly in English and strive for two articles a month in Spanish with the aim of having no less than two weeks of content scheduled in advance at all times
  • Correspond with and collect forms and content from authors, process payments according to VTS policies
  • Edit articles to meet Building Faith editorial guidelines (paying particular attention to spelling, grammar, formatting, clarity, brevity, practicality, theology, and diversity)
  • In consultation with Manager of Digital and External Affairs, utilize social media to post new and evergreen content as well as other recommended resources to Building Faith Facebook page (currently, two posts a day, 9:00am and 1:00pm) - include a mix of English and Spanish articles
  • Participate in online communities like the Forma Facebook Group and others, contributing relevant Building Faith articles
  • Provide day to day maintenance of the Building Faith website including updating the contributors page and seasonal “top picks”, checking and responding to comments
  • Check and respond appropriately to Building Faith email
  • Provide quarterly reports on top-performing articles, website traffic, etc. to the Building Faith team and the larger Lifelong Learning team as requested

Education 

  • 2 Year Degree or higher in English or Spanish or Christian formation, Religious Studies, or M.Div.

Experience 

  • Practical experience in parish ministry and/or religiously affiliated school(s)

Technology Skills 

  • Proficient in Microsoft Suite, Facebook, and WordPress
