WorkWell NYC Communications Coordinator

The Fund for Public Health in New York City (FPHNYC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit organization that is dedicated to the advancement of the health and well-being of all New Yorkers.  To this end, in partnership with the New York City Department of Health and Mental Hygiene (DOHMH), FPHNYC incubates innovative public health initiatives implemented by DOHMH to advance community health throughout the city. It facilitates partnerships, often new and unconventional, between government and the private sector to develop, test, and launch new initiatives. These collaborations speed the execution of demonstration projects, effect expansion of successful pilot programs, and support rapid implementation to meet the public health needs of individuals, families, and communities across New York City.

 

PROGRAM OVERVIEW

WorkWell NYC, an innovative workplace wellness team servicing over 380,000 City of New York employees, is seeking a dynamic Communications Coordinator to join its communications and marketing team to develop content to increase program visibility and employee engagement in wellness programming.  The Communications Coordinator will work closely with WorkWell NYC program leadership to develop cross-channel content, including print, web and social media collateral that reflects the diversity of the City’s workforce.  The Communications Coordinator will be expected to have strong writing, copy editing, design and project management experience with the ability to drive multiple projects with accuracy and skill.

 

POSITION OVERVIEW

WorkWell NYC is seeking a Communications Coordinator to help manage outreach efforts to over 380,000 NYC employees across the city. The primary focus of this position will serve to increase WorkWell NYC’s brand recognition through the development of print and digital content that reflects programmatic initiatives.

Location: This is an onsite (not remote) position at our agency headquarters, 22 Cortland Street, New York, NY 10007.

 

RESPONSIBILITIES

The primary role of the Communications Coordinator will be to support WorkWell NYC’s citywide programs with communications support that includes:

  • Guide branding and marketing to increase employee participation in WWNYC’s health promotion initiatives, including web-based content and print materials.
  • Create graphics and collateral for promotion of WWNYC events, as well as health and wellness resources for City employees.
  • Create social media content, including postings, web content and other digital technologies as they emerge.
  • Develop innovative strategies to increase program visibility across city agencies.
  • Manage graphics and marketing vendors, including on time delivery of materials and inclusive content reflecting the City’s diverse workforce.
  • Assist with program event planning, coordination, and outreach.
Qualifications

The communications Coordinator will:

  • Possess exemplary writing, editing and project management skills
  • Demonstrate skills and knowledge in graphic design
  • Display a capacity for critical, independent, and creative thinking
  • Possess strong project and time management skills, verbal skills and organizational skills

PREFERRED SKILLS

  • Min 2 years of communications experience
  • The ability to work urgent deadlines and high-priority tasks
  • Proven track record as a self-starter
  • Advanced computer and design skills, including Microsoft Office suite and other layout and design software systems (ie- Adobe In-design, Canva, etc.)
  • Interest in health and wellness

 

SALARY AND BENEFITS

FPHNYC offers a comprehensive benefits package. The salary range for this position is $50,000 to $60,000.

 

ADDITIONAL INFORMATION

There is potential for this position to transition to the NYC Mayor’s Office of Labor Relations (OLR) and therefore candidates should meet OLR eligibility requirement including NYC residency.
