Outreach Coordinator

Position title: Outreach Coordinator

Reports to: Director of Programs and Community Low Vision Centers

Supervises: N/A


Position summary:

IFBs Outreach Coordinator will be responsible for connecting the organization with the surrounding community. Their duties include brainstorming potential partnerships or methods for engagement with the local community, maintaining a calendar for outreach events and working closely with community partners and IFB employees to plan and execute various outreach events.


Essential Duties and responsibilities:

  • Act as liaison between the low vision center and the community.
  • Will prepare and submit reports regarding all outreach activities.
  • Develop relationships with Eye Care Professionals (ECP).
  • Develop relationships with long-term care, assistive living, and nursing home facilities.
  • Offer educational presentations and demonstrations of low vision products to the community.
  • Provide tours of the low vision center and IFB solutions to the community.
  • Establish and maintain support groups relating to specific senior eye conditions internally and externally.
  • Develop and launch targeted media plan.
  • Assist blind and visually impaired staff with accessibility issues
  • Develop and maintain general knowledge concerning the principles of low vision and blindness including eye conditions/diseases and the use/operation of aids/appliances and equipment.
  • Communicate with clients, family/visitors, vendors, tours, and associates in a courteous and professional manner.
  • Adhere to established policies and procedures while maintaining compliance with all regulatory requirements, including but not limited to HIPAA.

Knowledge and Skills:

  • Ability to understand and follow specific instructions and procedures.
  • Organizational skills to maintain both paper and electronic records.
  • Ability to multi-task and maintain flexibility.
  • Solid knowledge of all Microsoft Office applications.
  • Must have a valid drivers license.
  • Ability to occasionally lift up to 45 pounds.
  • Must be able to travel 25%.

Education and Work Experience:

  • Bachelors degree in Human Service field/Education or Marketing required
  • Social Work experience a plus but not required.
