Associate Curator of Early Modern Bibles and Printed Books

Supporting the Museums mission to invite all people to engage with the Bible, the Associate Curator of Early Modern Bibles and Printed Books will be a teacher-scholar who oversees, researches, exhibits, develops, and publicly advocates for the Museums significant collection of printed material related to European history and religious culture from the 15th to the early 17th centuries. The successful candidate will be an expert in the fields of Reformation History and Early Modern Europe who has a proven record of scholarship, effective teaching, and public engagement. In addition to curating a portion of the museums collection, this person will maintain an active research profile and contribute to the museums educational goals through its public programming and digital content.

  • Researches objects in the museums collection and disseminates findings through publications, lectures, gallery talks, exhibition script, and digital media.
  • Maintains an active research agenda leading to academic publications and presentations, including new trends and innovations within the museum profession
  • Researches and develops content for the Museums permanent and temporary exhibitions
  • Researches and recommends objects for purchase or loan
  • Consults and contributes to the museums educational programs and digital platforms
  • Responds to inquiries from scholars and institutions regarding specific objects of collection.


Ph.D. in the relevant field. M.A. may be considered with exceptional publication record and experience


PhD or equivalent in a relevant area of study Ten years museum experience or the equivalent Demonstrated ability to teach effectively to diverse audiences Strong scholarly potential and an active research agenda Ancient and/or modern language proficiency in the relevant area of the collection Proficiency in modern research languages appropriate to the field Extensive knowledge of the market, collecting ethics, and cultural heritage issues surrounding the museums collections.


  • Ability to communicate effectively with people from all backgrounds
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel, and database software
  • Ability to plan and deliver work and projects to budget and schedule
