Manager, Institutional Giving

Position Purpose: The Manager manages a portfolio of Corporate prospects and donors and contributes to fundraising efforts by participating in corporate strategic planning and funding requests toward corporate acquisition efforts including prospect identification, research, and proposals for memberships and sponsorships of exhibitions, programs, and events. The Manager also stewards funders through timely benefit fulfillment recognition, reporting, and data management. S/he assists with the day-to-day operations of the Institutional Giving Department, providing high-quality support to the Institutional Giving team. S/he will work closely with the Director of Institutional Giving to support major sponsor benefit fulfillment. The Manager is responsible for meeting the annual fundraising goals for corporate membership acquisition and renewal, including management of membership benefits fulfillment, member communications, website information, and coordination with other department teams to maximize corporate partner engagement. Other duties include annual reporting in fulfillment of funding obligations for Institutional Giving; exhibitions reports, and credit line management to ensure accurate recognition as required and defined in sponsor, funding, and grant agreements. The hiring hourly for the position is $22.21-$29.04 based on experience.

This position reports to the Director of Institutional Giving in the Development department.

Essential Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Work with the Director of Institutional Giving and the Chief Development Officer to determine fund raising goals for each major exhibition organized and/or presented by the museum.
  • In coordination with Director of Institutional Giving and Chief Development Officer, draft corporate proposals, develop and maintain a corporate portfolio and prospect list, and develop sponsor benefits packages appropriate to level of support.
  • Responsible for achieving annual corporate membership goal. Prepare regular reports summarizing the status of corporate membership program.
  • Responsible for supporting achievement annual departmental fundraising goals. Develop productive cross-departmental relationships to work with the marketing/PR, learning & engagement, membership, visitor services, and publications departments to ensure fulfillment of sponsorship requirements and to determine marketing/visibility agreements with sponsors, as needed.
  • Provide essential assistance for the implementation and fulfillment of corporate sponsor benefits, working closely with key members of the museum staff and sponsor representatives.
  • Coordinate and implement corporate partner recognition placement, with a high degree of attention to detail.
  • Create and manage credit lines to ensure accurate and appropriate recognition on all funded exhibitions, programs, and events.
  • Manage information listed on museum web site, in ArtMail and in On & Off the Wall related to corporate fundraising initiatives.
  • Represent the Development Department with courtesy and professionalism throughout the museum, and externally.
  • Assist with and provide concierge services for corporate partners and prospects, as necessary.
  • Coordinate corporate partner events with the Development Events team. Coordinate with Director of Institutional Giving to be present for events, as needed.
  • Prepare thorough and timely benefit fulfillment reports.
  • Plan and implement stewardship activities, renewals, and new member solicitations for the Corporate Membership program, coordinating with the Membership Department as appropriate.
  • Assist with the preparation of corporate, foundation, and government proposals/grants.
  • Assist with committee, meeting, and leadership preparatory documents for the institutional giving team.
  • Compile prospect research reports on corporate, foundation, and government prospects, as requested.
  • Maintain ongoing list of corporate prospects utilizing a multitude of resources, including the Internet, Chamber of Commerce/Book of Lists, Development files, periodicals, professional contacts, and staff and volunteer input.
  • Prepare valuation reports for corporate sponsorship and membership benefits.
  • Prepare timely exhibition reports to be used for all funders across the Development Department.
  • Maintain integrity of the Raisers Edge database which includes updated biographical information and contact structure; uploading managing new and change of addresses; inputting new prospects; and ensuring all proposals and asks are entered.
  • Manage preferred programs including implementation, coordination with Sales & Services, and reporting.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Knowledge, Skill and Ability

  • A Bachelors degree from an accredited college/university and 1-2 years related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Strong verbal communication skills and ability to communicate clearly with co-workers, donors, and organization leaders.
  • Must be extremely detail-oriented and organized.
  • Must be able to multi-task and prioritize requests from multiple people in a timely manner.
  • Must have a sincere interest in philanthropy and stewarding donor relationships and investments, and a desire to work in a donor-centered culture that produces information, materials, and constituent experiences of the highest quality.
  • Strong computer skills, with proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, and experience with Raisers Edge or similar database preferred. Knowledge of basic standards for correspondence and communication, or ability to complete training or guidance for such.
