Description

As a Program Manager on the American Psychiatric Association (APA)s Online Learning team, you will work closely with a cross-functional team to guide the development of educational products and services from conception to launch. This includes supporting the virtual (hybrid or livestreamed) component of APAs annual meeting, various one-day online events, and new eLearning offerings, among others. A critical component of this position will be the ability to break down tasks into manageable steps that will enable APA Online Learning to innovate and grow. In addition, the project manager may take on supporting roles to assist other teams within the Division of Education, especially during (but not limited to) in-person, live events such as the Annual Meeting and the Mental Health Services Conference, as determined by the leadership within the Division of Education.

The project manager will help create educational products that provide APA members with essential and up-to-date information and resources that support their needs. The project manager will work with a cross-functional team to produce a superior member experience through the delivery of online education opportunities.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Experience in defining and executing the roadmap for projects
  • Experience with the design and delivery of online education programs and events
  • Experience with medical accreditation
  • Capability of establishing a shared vision across stakeholders by building data-driven consensus on product priorities
  • Ability to translate your product vision into user stories through adult learning theory and instructional design principles
  • Ability to multitask and thrive in a fast-paced work environment
  • An understanding around how online education products drive revenue
  • Researching Machine Learning systems, models, and schemes

Responsibilities

  • Project manage learning deliverables, so they are delivered on-time, within scope, and within budget
  • Assist in the definition of project scope and objectives, involving all relevant stakeholders and ensuring technical feasibility
  • Develop detailed project plans to monitor and track progress
  • Contribute to learning projects by doing research around adult learning best practices and developing content
  • Coordinate internal resources and third parties/vendors for the flawless execution of projects
  • Manage relationships with all stakeholders throughout project life cycles
  • Measure project performance using appropriate systems, tools and techniques
  • Perform and assess risk management to minimize project risks, and escalate project risks to management when needed
  • Create, organize, and maintain comprehensive project documentation and reporting
  • Establish and maintain relationships with third parties/vendors
  • Support content development, content design, and continuously research new ways in which the Online learning team can innovate

Qualifications

Job Qualifications and Skill Sets

  • Bachelors degree in a related field, such as Education, Instructional Design, or Learning Technology. Masters degree is a plus
  • 3+ years of project coordination/management experience
  • Proficiency in project management tools
  • Understanding of Adult Learning theory and Instructional Design principles
  • Experience working with accredited medical education
  • Attention to detail and strong analytical skills
  • Ability to work both intra-departmentally and inter-departmentally, with internal and external stakeholders
  • Experience working with virtual education technology
  • Ability to manage vendors and provide oversight
