Description

The Head of Program provides leadership, organization and supervision for all aspects of the Interscholastic Athletic Program (Middle School through Varsity).

 

Supervisor: Director of Athletics

Supervisory Responsibilities: Assistant, Community and Volunteer Coaches

Position Status: This is a salaried, exempt, full-time, regular, 10-month position.

Hours of Work: Standard work week. Evening and weekend work is required.

 

ESSENTIAL RESPONSIBILITIES: Head of Program


  • Serves as the Head Coach of the Varsity team;
  • Provides leadership, organization and supervision for all practices and contests;
  • Implements and maintains a standard of performance consistent with the institution’s goals of athletic excellence;
  • Directs the activity of Boys Basketball head and assistant coaches;
  • Conducts the program within the rules and regulations of the GHSA;
  • Manages the program within the parameters of an approved budget;
  • Assists in organizing home and away travel contest arrangements;
  • Other duties as assigned.

 

REQUIREMENTS AND QUALIFICATIONS


  • Current active or currently pursuing employment as a Westminster Faculty or Staff Member
  • Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s preferred;
  • Previous coaching experience;
  • Working knowledge of computer and statistical programs;
  • Strong writing, organizational, administrative and communication skills;
  • Ability to work effectively with students, staff, faculty and community members;
  • Knowledge of GHSA rules and regulations;
  • CPR and First Aid Certified - preferred.

 

PHYSICAL DEMANDS AND WORK ENVIRONMENT


While performing the duties of this position, the employee is required to sit; stand; walk; use hands to finger, handle and feel objects, tools, or controls; reach with hands and arms; climb stairs; balance; stoop, kneel, crouch and crawl; talk and hear; engage in moderately strenuous physical activity both indoors and out; and smell. The employee may occasionally lift or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this position include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. Ability to become CPR and First Aid Certified.

While performing the duties of this position, the employee will be exposed to outside weather conditions and may frequently walk on slippery or uneven surfaces. The noise level in the work environment is frequently loud.

TRAVEL


Travel is primarily local during the regular business day. Overnight and out-of-area travel will be required.
