The Role

Gotham Greens is seeking a Legal Research Assistant to join our Finance Team and liaise between all departments. This role will be responsible for preparing and reviewing contracts, maintaining a legal library, state license applications, economic incentive research and reporting, and general support of the organization. This role will work closely with the Finance Team on a wide range of projects including filings, document production, and review in connection with the organization's business needs. This role reports to the VP of Accounting.


Areas of Responsibility

  • Assist in reviewing, amending and finalizing agreements, contracts, and other documents with clients and vendors
  • Prepare and coordinate legal documents for the team
  • Own and develop a process for the organization's economic existing incentive programs
  • Actively research economic incentive programs in new regions
  • Prepare and file multiple state license applications
  • Update and preserve document templates on a regular basis, and ensure updated templates are made available internally and to external clients
  • Maintain a legal library including customer files, vendor files, and others as necessary
  • Support in many financial law matters, including, but not limited to: bank loans, credit agreements, preparing and filing financing statements, and preparing initial drafts of security agreements and collateral descriptions
  • Monitor, track and report project progress to stakeholder
  • Write business correspondence and perform general administrative tasks as assigned




  • A BA/BS degree
  • 2+ years working experience as a legal assistant
  • Experience with economic incentives
  • Accuracy, attention to detail and strong proofreading skills are essential
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple responsibilities
  • Ability to exercise practical judgment; and be highly motivated self-starters
  • Ability to maintain highest levels of confidentiality and professionalism
  • Ability to communicate well cross-functionally with all levels of management, and a commitment to excellent customer service, internally and externally
  • Takes pride in their work, gets involved in the details, enjoys collaborating with others, and always wants to become the subject-matter expert in all areas of their job responsibilities
