  • Be a leader focused on building positive/influential relationships among all levels in the organization, specifically operations leadership, and the relevant union representatives.

  • Partner with the respective Executive leaders and General Counsel; participate in collective bargaining sessions, arbitration and grievances and manage all contract implementations with internal partners (People+Culture, Payroll, Legal, Operations).

  • Conducts research on union-related matters; analyzes CBAs to develop an interpretation of intent, spirit, and terms of contracts.

  • Manage calendar and communication of union contract changes and ensure preparation for and execution of resulting changes. This includes breaking down union contracts for system implementation and payroll team communications.

  • Collaborate with and provide to the Estimating team critical information for prevailing work project bids.  This includes reviewing submitted data and contacting the union to request the appropriate agreement/wages or determine if a Project Labor Agreement is needed to support the union’s “Money Follows the Man” process. 

  • Responsible for the resolution of escalated disputes both formal and informal and drafts first-level responses to contractual and disciplinary grievances in partnership with People Operations and/or General Counsel, depending on the severity level.

  • Provide training, guidance, and assistance to managers regarding the interpretation, compliance, and enforcement of collective bargaining agreements.

  • Collect, compile, and categorize labor-related issues to be addressed in future collective bargaining and development of labor strategies in advance of contract expiration.

  • Furnish information, such as reference documents and statistical data concerning labor legislation, labor market conditions, prevailing union and management practices, union wage and salary surveys, and employee benefits programs, for use in review of current contract provisions and proposed changes.

  • Participate in and/or lead special projects as required.



  • A hands-on proactive problem solver who operates effectively and independently, even in areas of uncertainty and ambiguity

  • Has effective time management skills

  • Can travel as business requires (approximately 25% of the time) to develop and nurture relationships with union representatives and operations leadership

  • Possesses 3+ years of labor relations experience
