Responsibilities:

 

  1. Keep the facility clean at all times.  This includes taking out trash, mopping floors, monitor the bathrooms for cleanliness, doing the laundry, and any other cleaning duties that need to be done. 
  2. Admit participants that are signed in by a police officer.  No Walk-Ins are accepted. 
  3. Fill out intake sheets, property slips and incident reports plainly, completely, and correctly and in a timely manner.
  4. Recognize participant rights and always be respectful to the participants.  Abuse of participants is not tolerated.  If a participant is acting out and/or dangerous, call 911.
  5. Valuable participant property is to be accounted for in the presence of admitting police officer.  Property is to be placed in a property bag and a signed receipt placed inside.
  6. Check on the status of participants throughout the shift, at a minimum of 15 minute increments.  At shift change, check with fellow employees on the status of participants including amount of property turned in and/or any other relevant information the employee may need.  Monitor must be vigilant about departure times and arrange transport in a timely manner.  Ensure participant signs for property at release.
  7. Escort participants to the dorm immediately after intake.
  8. Escort participant to exit door immediately upon discharge.  No participant leaves TSC without having transportation.
  9. TSC Monitor provides food and water as requested by participant (three meals per 10 hour stay).
  10. Breathalyzer must be performed on all participants that enter the TSC. The results must be documented clearly and accurately. Participant will not be admitted if breathalyzer registers .350 or higher. This must be performed and documented before officer leaves TSC.                                                          
  11. TSC Monitor will perform any other duties as assigned by the TSC Supervisor, Facilities Improvement Director (FID) or Chief Executive Officer.
  12. Call 911 in the case of a participant or employee medical emergency.
  13. Monitor will offer referrals for assistance to every participant that is willing to accept the information.
  14. Perform other duties as assigned.

Education and Experience:

Must have a high school diploma or equivalent

At least one (1) year of experience in counseling or working with alcoholics/addicts in a recognized treatment, rehabilitation, or counseling program; or a combination of education and experience. Two (2) years employment in the drug and alcohol field preferred.

Knowledge and Skills:

Skill in interviewing techniques and crisis intervention; establishing and maintaining working relationships with others; and interacting with chemically dependent persons in a way that elicits their confidence, respect, and responsibility.

Knowledge of the problems of alcoholism/addiction, co-occurring disorders and their effect on the individual and their family; individual and group behavior; the impact on health, economic, and social issues; community resources available to persons experiencing alcohol/drug related problems; and the short and long term effects of alcohol/drug dependency.

Monitor is required to maintain a current First Aid/CPR Certification.  Establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.  Effective oral and written communication.  Must be able to follow oral and written instructions.  Must have basic computer skills.

A valid Oklahoma driver’s license is required.

Physical Requirements:

Occasionally lifts, carries or moves objects weighing up to 50 pounds when stocking supply room and setting up equipment.  Typically bends, stoops and crouches on a regular basis to adjust settings on kitchen and laundry equipment and to perform custodial tasks.
