Description

To foster and maintain a culture of safety across all disciplines. To provide leadership in the implementation of the company’s efforts; to plan, implement and supervise the onsite corporate safety program and ensure compliance with the company philosophy. 

 

Essential Duties:

  • Daily promotion of a Safety Culture through engagement with all positions at each location
  • Training and development of all Training & Evaluation Supervisors / Safety Inspectors as well as performance management
  • Assists in the documentation and implementation of required or desired changes in the safety program / Injury and Illness Prevention Program (IIPP)
  • Training Classes, materials, schedules:  Assess, provide feedback, collaborate on development of new and existing materials with TES’s.  Continuous focus on improving training program with focus on safety
  • Ensure compliance with Tail Gate/Tool Box/Safety Meetings – provide training to branches and TES’s on how to conduct proper, engaging and interactive meetings
  • Writes job specific Safety plans; schedules jobsite visits when needed and safety audits
  • Ensures full compliance of safety plan
  • Controls hazardous working conditions and unsafe employee practices through site visits, safety plans, and education of all personnel
  • Reviews documentation to insure all required onsite records and reports are complete, accurate and submitted per established procedures.
  • Reinforces safety awareness in a manner that promotes cooperation and improved morale
  • Creates a working atmosphere that promotes openness and a high level of enthusiasm and morale in the field
  • Assists and work with Regional Operations Manager and Branch Managers in the tracking of the Experience Modification Factor, work-site injuries,
  • Conducts work area inspections and assists in personal injury investigations in collaboration with Business Manager
  • Lead committees on safety, injuries, and other relevant committees
  • Researches new regulations and developments in the field of Health and Safety and recommend changes in the company’s program
Qualifications

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities

  •  OSHA  Safety Regulations
  •  Cal-OSHA Safety Regulations
  • MUTCD Knowledge
  • Performance Coaching and Leadership skills
  • Traffic control safety knowledge
  • Firs Aid/CPR Trainer Status (preferred)
  • Active knowledge of the Windows environment
  • Active knowledge of the Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Access)
  • Ability to work fluidly and effectively with company’s departments as needed to resolve unspecified issues as they arise.
  • Maintain a positive work environment
  • Excellent communication skills (verbal, written)
  • The ability to run reports and present them.
  • The ability to handle multiple priorities and maintain a high level of confidentiality. 

Equipment Operated:

  • Office equipment (printer, copy machine, etc.)
  • Traffic Control Equipment (Cones, Delineators, Barricades, etc.)
  • Vehicles (Pickup trucks, flat beds, etc.)
  • Trailers and trailer mounted warning signs

Physical Requirements & Work Environment

  • Requires remaining in the seated position for prolonged periods of time 
  • Requires ability to visit work-sites and conduct physical surveys
  • Requires lifting up 20lb
  • Requires repetitive motion of hands
  • Clarity of vision at 20 inches or less
