Essential Duties and Responsibilities

Under general supervision and with a high degree of independence, the Membership Recruitment Lead is accountable for measurable increases in membership growth for girls and adults within their assigned region and across the council. Works with the Director of Membership Recruitment Strategies to plan and lead the regional team to implement year-round lead generation plans for membership growth. The Membership Recruitment Lead ensures that their Membership Recruitment regional team meet recruitment goals. Develop and foster community partnerships and volunteer involvement while providing a consistent image of the Councils commitment to Girl Scouts and the community at large. Responsible for volunteer recruitment, member identification, growth and maintenance.

 

DEPARTMENT DESCRIPTION

  • The Membership Recruitment department is responsible for developing and implementing plans to recruit new members year round into Girl Scouts Heart of Central California (GSHCC). The Membership Recruitment department increases membership growth in assigned geographical areas and strategically selected areas across the council to support growth.
  • This position also works closely with the Regional support and Program Strategy and Engagement Teams. This position is cross-trained to help with specific duties in certain times of the year, upon request.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Develop, design and conduct recruitment plan for girl and volunteer membership growth in designated geographic areas through analysis of community needs, demographic data and membership statistics.
  • Provide team leadership resulting in the teams achievement of lead generation benchmarks and goals
  • Assist team in developing individual membership recruitment plans unique to the needs of each of the service units
  • Cultivate relationships with appropriate community leaders, organizations and businesses to increase visibility of Girl Scouts in the community.
  • Support the Alternative Program Delivery department (APD) in its outreach efforts.
  • Work closely with the conversion/placement team to assess troop formation and follow-up. Maintains lists of forming troops in the opportunity catalog.
  • Develop relationships with schools, superintendents, community leaders, Girl Scout volunteers, and local businesses to support overall council membership goals.
  • Work with department team managers to assure cross-departmental projects are achieved successfully.
  • Works closely with the Service Unit (SU) Support team in engaging SUs to recruit members.

 

KEY PERFORMANCE INDICATORS

  • Collaborate with Recruitment Specialist team to achieve annual recruitment goals, giving support and creating strategies to support Recruitment Specialists to achieve regional and team goals.
  • Gather available data and analyze information to identify opportunities for growth in the acquisition of girl and adult members.
  • Develop strategies for gaining qualified leads using Persona Data in market segmentation with specific zip codes focusing on those with higher probability to convert, lead team to close leads to become members.
  • Accountable to driven results for setting measurable goals and ensure that the regional recruitment goal efforts are achieved.
  • Maintain dashboard of leads and new girls, determine effectiveness of strategies

 

Technical skillset: This position requires training in these systems listed here. You will receive training on these systems and must be comfortable with and have a broad knowledge of these systems within six months of your taking this position.

  • Zoom, GoToMeeting, Looker, gsLearn, gsConnect, Salesforce, Persona Data analysis and interpretation
  • Familiarity with social media platforms, NextDoor, and other platforms used to communicate with targeted communities
Skills and Qualifications
  • Bachelors Degree in a related field preferred
  • At least 5+ years of experience in a related field, sales, customer relationship management (CRM), volunteer recruitment, community organizing or customer service experience preferred.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently, manage multiple priorities, and creatively solve problems
  • Bilingual (English/Spanish) skills preferred
  • Must have cultural proficiency and innate skill in bridging Girl Scouts Heart of Central California (GSHCC) to the Latinx/Hispanic communities.
  • Must have a high level of relational intelligence, digital, virtual, and technical proficiency, leadership, learning and innovation.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Demonstrate a commitment to recognize and respect the many forms of diversity
  • Demonstrate a willingness to embrace the Girl Scouts mission, goals, values and council-driven programs
  • Valid California drivers license, a clean driving record, and proof of insurance
  • Available for council-required events (Annual Meeting, Girls Inspire, and more)
  • Experience with engaging community-based organizations
  • Familiarity with membership and population demographics
  • Ability to analyze and interpret data in order to formulate plans to achieve council membership goals

 

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

  • Able to lift and carry 25 pounds.

WORK HOUR/TRAVEL

  • Must have access to reliable transportation; position will include some work-related travel in the council area.
  • Willingness to work a flexible schedule including weekends, holidays, evenings and overnight events as needed.
