Reporting to the Middle School Director, and working with the Language Department Chair, the Middle School SpanishTeacher (Long-Term Substitute) is responsible for teaching students in beginning levels of Spanish (Spanish A and Spanish B) in grades 6-8. The Middle School Spanish Teacher (Long-Term Substitute) is a full-time temporary position.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Teach Middle School Spanish (Grades 6-8); specifically, two sections of Spanish A and two sections of Spanish B

Teach reading comprehension skills and building verbal vocabulary and Spanish verbal skills

Implement appropriate, authentic assessments in support of individual student learning styles

Communicate effectively, proactively, and in a timely manner with varied school constituencies, including administration, students, and parents, on students progress

Communicate respectfully and thoughtfully with parents/ guardians, remaining sensitive to different families’ cultures, values and needs

Make Spanish meaningful and relevant by inspiring students

Plan curriculum in conjunction with other members of the Foreign Language Department

Perform additional duties, as needed and assigned

Consistently communicate high expectations and boundaries in a kind, clear and respectful manner

Maintain a climate of trust and mutual respect, which encourages students to risk asking questions, expressing their opinions, and making mistakes necessary to the learning process

Show a commitment to supporting the holistic development of the student, both inside and outside of the class.
