SUMMARY: Reporting to the Executive Director of the Paralympic Operations Department (ED POD), the Head of Technical Rules and Regulations (HTRR) collaborates with the World Para Powerlifting Organization (WPPO) to develop and executed National Technical Rules and Regulations for the sport of Paralympic Powerlifting in the United States. The HTTR will be responsible for all domestic competition policies and procedures recognized by the POD for the sport of Paralympic Powerlifting in the United States. USAPP’s HTTR will also be responsible for working with the ED POD in developing and implementing the POD Technical Committee to establish domestic and international education pathways for National Technical Officials for the sport of Paralympic Powerlifting in the United States.

 

This individual will be an ambassador of Paralympic movement by assisting POD and USAPP its sport(s) in developing the best technical standards for athletes looking to compete domestically and internationally. In addition, the individual will uphold and enforce Logan’s Mission, Vision and Values.

 

This position requires remote work and domestic and international travel.

 

The specific duties include:

  • Serve as Chair of the POD Technical Committee
  • Working with the POD Regional Hubs, USOPC, LOC’s to facilitate compliance of the National Technical Standards for USAPP by providing development, direction, coordination and implementation of these standards which are to be based on the WPPO Technical Rules and Regulations
  • Directing, administering, coordinating, and implementing competition Technical matters for USAPP.
  • Managing all Technical Rules and Regulations appeals and protest, domestic and internationally, and managing international Technical Rules and Regulations appeals and protest in conjunction with the ED POD and the USAPP’s High Performance Manager
  • Overseeing and managing the POD’s data on all Technical Rules and Regulations for USAPP domestically and internationally
  • Establishing, with the POD Technical Committee, all National Technical Official training processes, certification standards, and pathways for International Technical Official training/status for National Technical Officials of USAPP.
  • Establishing, with the POD Technical Committee, and regularly reviewing the specific National Technical Rules and Regulations for USAPP.
Qualifications

COMPETENCIES: To perform the job successfully, an individual should have good interpersonal and written communication skills, including negotiation and presentation skills. Must be able to interact with people on a variety of levels in the Paralympic movement, Logan, and the sport(s) managed by the POD, in the field in a professional manner. Must have good project management skills and be able to complete projects within budget and meet deadlines. Must be able to prioritize work activities.

Must have a Minimum of

  • Bachelor’s degree

 

Preferred degrees

  • Master’s degree

 

Must have knowledge in the field relevant to the WPPO Technical Rules and Regulations. Must have coaching or other relevant background in adapted sports or a recognized and reputable academic qualification which encompasses a requisite level of anatomical, biomechanical and sport-specific expertise is acceptable. Must have the ability to assess in a setting with a variety athletes and abilities. Excellent organizational, interpersonal, communication skills (both written and verbal), and ability to prioritize and organize multiple tasks to meet deadlines.

 

Certificates, Licenses and Registrations:

Required:

  • Must be a member in good standing of USAPP
  • USAPP National Technical Official Certification

 

 

 

Preferred:

  • WPPO Level 1 Technical Official Certification

 

Other Qualifications: Must be able to travel 25% of the time and work nights and weekends occasionally. At least 3 years’ experience with adaptive sport populations.
