Description

The Oak Hall Summer Program is pleased to announce that it is hiring a Summer Camp Technology/Stem Program Director for the Summer of 2023. Your primary goal is to ensure our programs provide a challenging learning environment, a safe camp environment, supervision of campers, and a fun camp experience for the campers that we work with throughout the day. You are the one most directly responsible for supervising and mentoring the instructional staff (enrollment dependent) for your program offerings. You will be the public face of your programs to the parents dealing with problems, concerns, and even accolades that may be addressed to you. Finally, you will work collaboratively with the Summer Camp Program Director for delivery of our One Camp Programming initiative and the Summer Program Head Counselor to supervise and mentor the counseling staff for the program (enrollment dependent).

The Summer Camp Technology/Stem Program Director requires on-site leadership from May 30, 2023 to July 21, 2023, weekdays during the morning (No camp the week of July 4th) for 20-40 hours weekly (afternoon opportunities may be available). Additional time is allotted for preplanning and input on hiring decisions of counseling staff (if applicable) before the start of summer and can be done remotely.

Key Responsibilities

  • Arrive on time and prepared for each camp day.
  • Provide session specific information for parent informational letters, as necessary.
  • Development of lesson plans and delivery of one day program weekly as described in our program brochure ensuring the safety of all participants.
  • Determine what supplies are needed and assist in their procurement if necessary. Update supply inventory and needs on a weekly basis according to supply ordering process and ensuring that we stay within budget framework.
  • Maintain an accurate roster of camper attendance (Submitted daily through Camp Brain)
  • Compile digital pictures of all camp activities and coordinate with Summer Camp Media and Marketing Specialists.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the camp site (Includes all set up, clean up, and end of summer camp closing)
  • Attend all staff meetings
  • Maintain a safe and clean GREEN camp community
  • Uphold the standards expected of all Oak Hall School employees during the summer.
  • Coordinate the safe transportation of campers to arranged field trip sites/programs. Ride on buses as required.
  • Any other duties determined by the Director of Operations.
Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent
  • Working knowledge and enjoyment of concentration for which you are applying
  • Previous experience working with elementary-age children
  • Previous Summer Program/Camp experience
  • Demonstrate leadership qualities and sound judgment
  • Availability to work for all weeks & sessions of camp program
  • Enthusiastic, mature, and flexible in terms of schedule and program delivery.
  • Desire to work with children in a day camp setting
  • CPR/FA/AED Child/Adult Certification

Physical Requirements and Work Environment:

  • Required to sit, talk, hear and visually intercept visitors.
  • Both close and distance vision is required
  • Works in a highly stressful environment dealing with a wide variety of challenges, deadlines, and a varied and diverse array of contacts
  • Be able to occasionally lift up to 30 lbs.
  • Work in a traditional climate controlled CLASSROOM environment
  • Work primarily in outside weather conditions, including extreme heat
  • Tasks involve the ability to exert heavy physical effort, including climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching and crawling, and lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling of moderately heavy objects and materials weighing 20 to 50 pounds.
