Must be 18 years of age or older.

If you are still in High School, you will need to show proof of passing all classes with a 75 or greater.

Candidate Firefighter Process (Required for All Successful Applicants) Applicant Requirements-

  • High School Diploma or GED (if still in school, grades must be kept above 75%)
  • Valid Texas Drivers License
  • Completed Physical - click here to download form
  • Attendance of at least 1 Information session

Volunteer Program

  • First Aid CPR
  • Texas Boater Safety Course
  • NFPA 1500 Bloodborne Pathogen Safety Course
  • Workplace Diversity Course
  • Traffic Incident Management Course
  • Courage to be Safe Course
  • NIMS 100, 200, 700, 800 courses

Lecture Portion

  • 8 weeks online and book work at your own pace with mandatory minimums to be met
  • Weekly in-person class on Thursday evenings to review course material

Skills Portion

  • 16 weeks of skill work
  • Tuesday evenings and Saturdays

Attain State Firefighters and Fire Marshals Association of Texas (SFFMA) Firefighter 1 certification by passing written exams

Information sessions are mandatory. Failure to attend one of the below sessions will result in the denial of the application.

May 09, 2023, 6pm - 9pm

May 20, 2023, 9am-12am

June 5, 2023, 6 pm - 9 pm

June 17, 2023, 9 am - 12 pm

July 10, 2023, 6 pm - 9 pm

All info sessions will be held at our Spring Fire Department Station 74 located at 23803 Aldine Westfield Rd. Spring, TX 77373.
