General Scope of Position

The Pastor of LifeCare, Counselor position provides support to the LifeCare Ministry (LifeCare, LC) of Crossings Community Church (CCC, Crossings) through execution of its day-to-day vision and mission, and by providing therapy to individuals, couples, and families as assigned and noted below.

 

Organizational Relationships

The position reports to CCCs Pastor of LifeCare, Department Director and will work collaboratively and interact regularly with all members of the LifeCare Ministry team, various vendors, and CCC staff and volunteers, across the various departments and ministries, venues, and campuses, as well as with ministry partners of Crossings, to accomplish the goals and mission of Crossings and its ministries.

 

Responsibilities/Duties

  • To provide therapy to individuals, couples, and families as assigned. These hours may include late afternoon, early evening and Fridays, averaging 20 to 23 sessions weekly. All LC Counselors are expected to cover emergency and urgency situations any day of the week
  • Clinical expertise and experience in addressing issues specifically related to adult men and women, as well as expertise and experience in conducting marital therapy
  • Regular availability for Sunday mornings for clinical and pastoral responsibilities and up to two week nights to offer leadership in LC Support and Recovery groups and/or Enrichment classes as requested
  • Participation in both weekly individual consultation and Case Consultation as well as other departmental and church-wide staff meetings and staff events
  • Represent Crossings in community based civic and ministry-related opportunities, as requested
  • Conformity to clinical standards, ethics, and protocols as established by LifeCare
  • Timely and accurate record management in line with LC department protocols and in compliance with HIPAA guidelines
  • Assist in maintaining the highest possible ministry standards and professional ethics in accordance with the goals, Purpose Statement, and Core Values of Crossings Community Church
  • Support the leadership of CCC, contributing to the spirit of unity among the staff and congregation
  • Perform any other duties or tasks to accomplish responsibilities associated with this position or as may be needed or assigned to fulfill the needs, mission and goals of Crossings ministries

 

Requirements

  • If applicable, completion of all requirements and eligibility for Oklahoma licensure
  • Articulate the Counseling fields body of knowledge corollary to current level of education, training, and experience
  • Articulate and practice the Counseling fields established ethical clinical standards
  • This position provides malpractice insurance and as appropriate, consultation and/or personal therapy, continuing education opportunities, and theological/pastoral education

 

Pastoral Requirements

  • Understand and support Crossings Statement of Faith, vision, goals, ministries, and Core Values;
  • Participation in CCC Pastoral duties and opportunities, as requested
  • Hold a developed sense of Pastoral Calling and Pastoral Identity
  • Be open to learning about and embrace the core principles, values, and DNA of Crossings ministries and Wesleyan roots

 

Development

  • Attend Bible study and/or community group
  • Participate in developmental opportunities, that will include Biblical studies, theology, counseling, pastoral leadership, and teaching
  • Meet weekly with Pastor of LifeCare Ministries, Director or supervising therapist for development and to review goals and objectives

 

Spiritual Expectations

  • Maintain a consistent and growing spiritual life, that includes daily devotional, and regular church attendance
  • Walk in a manner worthy of the gospel of Jesus Christ that is committed to live above reproach in an attitude of humility and bearing. Moreover, the Pastor and his or her family, will as conduct themselves within the bounds of the expectations given in the Crossings Employee Handbook

 

Spiritual Gifts

Demonstrate a mature walk with Christ that exhibits the spiritual gifts of administration/organization, leadership, knowledge, wisdom, discernment, shepherding, service, and encouragement. This person must hold humility and unity as key components to offering ministry.

 

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Exhibit a passion to walk with people in their faith development
  • Be a proven and effective leader in the areas of responsibility attached to this position
  • Serve as a multi-tasking team player with high energy, strong interpersonal skills and a positive attitude
  • Possess a current unrestricted drivers license

 

Education and Experience

  • Has successfully matriculated a graduate degree in Counseling and holds, or holds eligibility as an approved Licensed Provider in the State of Oklahoma (LPC, LMFT, LADC, LCSW)
  • Has participated in personal therapy
  • Holds a graduate degree in Theological Studies (MDiv, MTS; MA RelEd)
  • Ideally has completed minimally one unit of Clinical Pastor Education (CPE)
  • Holds Ordination, or is eligible for Ordination, in a faith body of like-mind and order
  • Holds several years of both clinical practice and pastoral experience
