CDL Driver

OVERVIEW:

The CDL Driver partners with the Store Manager to transport stock safely, effectively, and efficiently to Gardeners Supply Company customers and provides exceptional service while doing so. The CDL driver executes processes and problem solving that will reduce overhead costs and increase sales. A primary function of the CDL driver is to transport products safely and efficiently, and to operate and maintain equipment safely. The safety of our employees and customers is a top priority as such the CDL driver must comply with all state, federal and company guidelines. The CDL driver impacts the efficacy and profitability of the company by driving productivity efforts as outlined in our operating standards and as directed by their supervisor.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

• Takes personal accountability for representing the values and company appropriately in all situations (service, dress code, interpersonal skills).
• Promotes a positive work environment through an inclusive and respectful approach.
• Celebrates and encourages diversity, equity, and inclusion in the workplace.
• Gathers, packs, and loads products, including for both inbound and outbound loads, delivers to customers, and then returns to the garden center to prepare for the next delivery.
• Complete inter store product transfers while operating non-CDL trucks.
• Provides exceptional customer service when delivering to residential and commercial locations.
• Completes daily vehicle inspections, partnering with management to resolve vehicle performance and safety issues.
• Completes daily electronic and paper mileage and fuel logs

CDL DRIVER REQUIREMENTS:

• Possesses a relevant, current, and valid Class B CDL with a clean driving record
• Possesses a relevant, current, and valid certification for crane operation
• Performs all duties within the confines of the law
• Experience operating heavy equipment and similar vehicles for work purposes
• Comfort using GPS to navigate routes to delivery locations
• Compliance with all road and transport rules
• Ability to drive safely, irrespective of the weather and time of day
• Excellent time management, interpersonal and administrative skills
• Strong problem-solving and multi-tasking skills
• Ability to stay organized, focused and calm in a fast-paced environment
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills
• Ability to use Internet search engine and email
• Works a flexible schedule including mornings, evenings, holidays, and weekends
• Ability to work outside in adverse weather conditions
• Ability to perform physical activity including lifting large and bulky material
• Ability to regularly lift 50 lbs.
